Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

Directed by Oscar® winner Bill Condon from a screenplay by TBD based on the 1991 animated film, the film is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards® (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.

"There's a beast running wild there no question, but I fear the wrong monsters released". My favorite line, LeFou is amazing.

Luke Evans really had a blast being Gaston in this adaptation. He sounds so insane and vicious here, which makes him even more menacing here.

0:30 Luke was so clean in his notes! I can replay this part all day!

“There’s a beast running wild, there’s no question. But I fear the wrong monsters released", is my favorite line, cause it shows another side of LeFou.

1:17 Not a big fan of the Live-Action remake, but I admit, I like the lyrics
"Call it war, call it threat, you can bet they all will follow, for in times like this, they'll do just as I say." Seems a perfect fit for Gaston's manipulative side.

0:38 that note by Luke was clutch. Almost straight up operatic. Never knew Dracula and Bard could sing so well.

In the original animated version from 1991, LeFou just blindly follows Gaston along with the rest of the mob, but here he begins to realize what a monster Gaston is.

I actually really like the small change of Belle and Maurice escaping on their own as opposed to Chip busting them out. It adds to their characters.

It's such a crime that they nailed the casting with Lafou and Gaston so completely and then fell so flat otherwise. They absolutely carry it and their musical numbers are the best without doubt

I actually prefer this version of Lefou, makes him feel like more of a character

I love what they did with Gaston & LeFou in this.
They made Gaston look more handsome & LeFou more light-hearted

I love the irony that Luke Evans is playing Gaston in this film singing this song, when in Dracula Untold, it was he who played the part of the misunderstood monster.

I’ve always loved this song, in the original and in the remake. I feel it illustrates the courage of the townsfolk. I mean, yeah, they were trying to kill the Beast which theoretically puts them as the “bad guys” of the film, but they were manipulated into that position by Gaston. Gaston was a folk hero, an icon, a person the looked up to and believed in. He was evil and manipulative, but to them he was a hero. So to their perspective, there was a new threat: vicious, evil monster that would terrorize the village and eat their children. Did they flee? Did they hide? No. They armed themselves with whatever they could find and followed their hero to fight and kill the monster. That is courage right there. I always found the townsfolk to be really brave.

1:13 y'all' notice that the pastor doesn't go with them. I think this, more or less, means that he's the only 1 in the village that is NOT under Gaston's infuence/control/grip. Well, other than Belle & her Dad of course. As for not helping.... Well what could he have done against that mob?

When you realize LeFou hateful stare at Gaston when he sings "But I fear the wrong monster's released." and then you *also* realize the "wrong monster released" he's talking about isn't the beast in the castle, but Gaston, and your mind is just 🤯🤯🤯

Love the lyrics for this take on The Mob Song, shows how Gaston plays on people's fears a lot more.

"Through the mists, through the woods,
Through the darkness and the shadows,
It's a nightmare but it's one exciting ride...."

Most spine-chilling opening to a song ever.

I love how Josh never broke out of character of feeling so disappointed at the townfolk throughout this whole sequence.

Lafou's line 'there's a beast running wild there's no question, but I fear the wrong monster's released' belongs on some Shakespearean stage. When a minor character turns aside to the audience and says what he's really thinking. It was Josh Gad's idea that LaFou would get more and more unsure about Gaston, instead of being such a devoted lackey to the end. It worked.
