UNC Board Grants Nikole Hannah-Jones Tenure, University Community Members Against Slow Response

The Board of Trustees at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has granted Nikole Hannah-Jones her tenure, after previously deciding not to even vote on the subject. Following days-long protests, community outrage and teaching staff resignations, the board voted in favor of granting her tenure. The move comes after collective disapproval and accusations of systemic racism at the university.

President of the Black Student Movement at UNC Chapel Hill, Taliajah M. Vann, and law professor at UNC, Erika K. Wilson, joined “Black News Tonight” with Marc Lamont Hill to speak on the decision. Vann, who was in attendance of the meeting, also speaks about student treatment while they were there.

Give a person tenure even though the key point of her 1619 Project was deemed a lie. Not an error. Not a little mistake. A lie. Yes, this is higher education in an era of racial essentialism.

From Nikole Hannah-Jones to the to panelist how come you didn't attend a HBCU in light of their history. The HBCU's are in need of the funds as well as your academic prowess?!.

I would think if the student felt so passionate about UNC's environment she would transfer/quit immediately in support of HNJ. This student is getting her high brow education and psychologically burning the bridge/tainting the mindset of other Black/POC precious peoples from using UNC as a vehicle to get their higher education... At the end of the day, you are hurting future Black/POC to obtain their higher education.

No evidence provided for any of the comments made on that video

And yes many people questions jones getting tenure. He’s so uninformed

This demonstrates the power of canceling is predominantly on the side of the left. The left has the power to platform and di-platform

Indeed, sis, we're TIRED of the behavior exhibited by UNC! All the people who worked to 'make this happen' ought to TAKE A BOW!! You did it and ashamedly but certainly, UNC has relented!! It shouldn't have had to come to this as Prof. Nicole Hannah-Jones deserves better!!
One would think that in 2021 we would not have to go through this 'road' but UNC made it possible because of the politics it plays!!!💯

My god that student is delusional. The board is racist and happy to keep black people down? Really? NHJ isn't qualified, her work was deemed a lie! Talk about racial preference
