Today, I'm doing a video on Akko Lubed Switches Worth It!?. In this video, I go over the pre-lubed Akko Lavender Purple Switches, pre-lubed Akko Matcha Green Switches, and pre-lubed Akko Jelly White switches and figure out if the Akko pre-lubed switches are worth it for the money. The one thing about this is that lubeing techniques varry between people, for example you may put more lube on your switches (not necessarily over lubed just more then usual) and other people will put lighter amount of lube on their switches to, but it all comes down to what you want from your switches and what preference you have

Any content from you guys is great, truly. But I believe, considering the inconsistenties due to the so many factors that come into play in a sound test, that you should have tested those on the same key AND that more than 1 lubed lavenders should have been put to the test. As it happens, it just might have been the best of the batch and the rest is shite y'know. Not a complaint, but a mere feedback. Love your work guys keep it up!

I just got the pre-lubed green switches, and they sound and feel really nice. I haven't noticed any inconsistent lubing. To me, the extra price was totally worth it.

As a lot of people have mentioned, CTR really should have done the sound test properly. I ended up buying some lubed and stock lavender purples to test them myself on the same key and with the same keycap. Factory lubed compared to stock sounds a good bit quieter and has a more controlled/premium feel. However, proper hand-lubed compared to factory-lubed is still noticeably better unlike what it seemed in this video. It has a more rich and silent sound and an even more controlled/premium feel. It's like how salt and pepper brings out the flavor of food. If you don't feel like hand-lubing, just go with the pre-lubed switches; it's worth it. However, if you have the time, buy the stock switches (since it's cheaper) and hand lube them. You'll get an incredible switch for the money if you do.

This is for a person that just want a custom keyboard without spending too much time. I totally get them, spending hour(s) lubing individual switch might not be for everyone and all the extra tools needed to make the job easier.

I think I know why lubed lavender is better than the others. For the same amount of pre-lubing, the lavender ones have the advantages of mechanical constraints, meaning that every part that hasn't been lubed before will be working more effectively, thus the lightness is very noticeable. Whereas the linear ones, which don't have as many mechanical parts as the lavender ones, don't gain much like the lavender because they have fewer mechanical constraints. The feeling of the linear ones is already light at the beginning, so when compared to the manually lubed, the pre-lubed ones are the inferior one

You can’t really compare the sound of hand lubed vs prelubed because they were on different sockets, and sound can vary tremendously between two sockets even if they’re on the same row. Best way to compare the sound is to put them on the same switch socket.

Super helpful video. Im a tactile guy and I dont mind lubing my switches, especially for my higher end boards. But ive been meaning to try new layouts and the lavender purples are perfect to just throw them on to a budget board without investing too much time or money.

I have to agree on the Akko Lavenders I bought those to save me some time on having to hand lube one by one, I have not had to open any to re-apply lube so far. They all feel uniform however some switches have more leaf ping than others so that is still and issue on some switches so I chose the less pingy of the bunch for the alphas and spacebar. I will have to apply some lube to prevent the leaf ping in the future but its usable in that state as the tactility and the bottom out will help drown out the pinging.

It was thanks to some of your previous videos that I got myself some akko lavender purples and I love them.

For this video, I do feel like 1 of each just isn't a good enough sample size. The lubing on each switch isn't exactly the same regardless of if its done by hand or machine and a larger sample size would help account for those small variations. Hopefully we get to see some videos with these on full keyboards :)

I recently built an RK61 with Akko Vintage White and had to manually lube them. Those switches are f-ing awesome, they are my first linear switches and I love them.
