Animals Left in Ukraine as People Flee War

Since the start of Russia's invasion, millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes, leaving behind animals in shelters and zoos. Now it is up to dozens of volunteers and international groups to care for them. Mariia Prus has the story. It contains graphic images that some viewers might find disturbing.

They're wonderful for going after these animals!!! Until I saw a post yesterday I didn't realize how much of a hardship these animals have been put through! 😪🤧 I never thought about zoo's either. No food, water, caretakers or family members to care for them. So many died ....just ❤ heart breaking!! Pets are family too. God bless all the kindness, effort, rescues, volunteers & anyone who can assist!!

My 18-months cat is a member of the family. Should I be in the situation of the Ukrainian refugees, I think I wouldn't even think of leaving him behind. This being said, that's easy to say from a safe place, and I'm certainly not judging anyone, God (or the Devil) only knows what emergency situations these owners on their homes-turned-battlefields have to face.
