The fast from Daniel chapter 10 is a three-week fast of mourning where you eat no sweets, meats or wine, nor do you wear lotions or deodorants or perfumes (in his time it was called "anointing with oil")...not to be confused with the 10-day fast of vegetables & water (fruit counts, vegetables means plants here) that ended-up lasting for 3 whole years that Daniel & company did in Chapter 1.

Wait? Daniel 1:12 has nothing to do with Daniel 10:3 at all. Daniel 1 is referring to a fast and describes his countenance and was for 10 days ... And Daniel 10 is describing that he couldn't eat because he couldn't understand the dream (he was mourning) and that was for 3 weeks...so if you want to fast like Daniel did in Daniel 1 for 3 weeks that's cool if you feel like it, but not required and the 2 chapters have zero, and I mean zero to do with each other at all.

Daniel fasted from choice foods and only ate pulse the entire time he was there, not 3 weeks. He did a biblical fast of only water for 3 weeks. There is no Daniel fast. To call his diet of pulse a Daniel fast is to say that he didn't defile himself with the kings meat for only 3 weeks, after that he did defiled himself.
