One question, among Catholics we often make the Sign of the Cross before and after prayers and most of the time accompany it with the words “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”. Do Orthodox also do that frequently?p

The Holy Orthodox Church has the Tradition for parishioners  Sign right to left..The Roman Catholic Church Signs left to right.
For those who are not Orthodox the Sign of the Cross is Explicitly mentioned in the Bible but it does tell us to Think of things righteous and of good report . We are also commanded to remember Christ and his sacrifice. " Do these things in remembrance of me". It is exactly this. No, it is not the communion as in the bread and wine but it is a remembrance of our savior and  his blood shed for us. There are many other Christian groups that " plea the Blood of Jesus" or Think on the Cross of Christ as a point of Faith in His action and love towards us. This is no different than that.
If the Right Reverend would please correct me as I am sure it is not a perfect explanation of the Sign of the Cross.

Is this Eastern catholic church? I didn't know the cross goes up to the heart only, I go down up to the belly button since I was a kid- is that valid (going down that much, does make it look more like a cross, though).

Dude! She is a Catholic of the Byzantine rite!
In the Eastern rite they do
1. Forehead
2. Heart (or sometimes belly)
3. RIGHT shoulder
4. Left shoulder

It ISN'T wrong.
It is another tradition!
