This lecture will explain some of the concepts discussed on the core section of the EPA Section 608 CFC Refrigerant Handling Exam. Ozone, Chlorine, CFC, HCFC, HFC, the three R's (Recovery, Recycle & Reclaim) and safety are discussed. This is one of a series of videos designed to help students understand the purpose of questions and answers on the exam not just memorize the answers. If you watch this video as well as the others then you should be more prepared to obtain the Universal Refrigerant Handling Section 608 Certification for HVAC technicians.

Thank you for making and sharing these useful study guides. I appreciate how you break everything down and make it easier for an individual like myself who has never done HVAC to understand.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed watching your video. You did a great job explaining core. Two weeks from now I take my EPA 608 exam and videos like this one really help me. I have read through the manual and as you were explaining each part of the core section I knew 95 percent of what you were saying.

EXCELLENT study video.
The Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Program Manual for HVACR Technicians is vague in what information of the 75 pages for core is on the test. The audio explanation is so specific to the test, I personally (and I hope you don't mind) converted this to mp3 and played it in my truck as I drove to my HVAC/R classes.
THANK YOU for helping me study for my EPA Core certification.

So, we haven't been using CFC's in HVAC systems since 1996? Will there be questions on the core test about CFC's (R11, R12 and R500)?

I love your lectures, but am struggling to get the core study to play.... Has anyone else had this situation?

Just to confirm a single blended and an azeotrope refrigerant will have a single boiling point and condensing point Although azeotrope contains two or more refrigerants.

Question. Did all cars have R-12 refrigerant prior to 1996 whether it's Ford, GM, Chrysler etc.?
