"Bite the Billet", Peter l would buy a full set of Mizuno's take the difference and book a golf holiday to Portugal, play golf for 5 days and still have enough left to phone just eat and have a chicken chow mein delivered, before l would use or buy those Mod1's

Before even watching, I'm guessing the Average Joe would probably be a million times better served buying the $150 set and spending on lessons, the $2850 you saved on the clubs.

I'm impressed by how well those XR2's performed. My first set of clubs were around the same price and I couldn't wait to upgrade them into some "real" clubs and start playing better. I quickly learned it is the archer, not the arrow. #BitetheBillet

Love how your content and content delivery is always so interesting. This video goes a long way with giving advice to people just picking up the game. Essentially, "cheap" sets won't hold you back from enjoying the game and growing into more premium sets. You can still have loads of fun and not sacrifice much in performance. Good on you!

Personally I’d rather just game the XR2’s off of looks alone.

Appreciate the tech and manufacturing of the Mod 1 but still if I saw those sticking out of a bag I’d cringe.

Just buy a set you want, I went cobra mim irons and love them. I've also used Cleveland vas irons and loved them to.

Those mod 1 irons are very unusual but the Fazer look aright, remind me a lot of the callaway XR irons, the design, look, name are all very similar 🤔 great content as always, good to see you swinging a bit more freely, back must be a bit better 👍🏻 #BitetheBillet

Great review! I bought a used set...lightly used, they basically looked brand new....of Nike Sling Shot irons about 10 years ago! I had new regular steel shafts that are 1.5" longer and 3° upright...as I am 6'6". They are the easiest irons to hit, & they are long and consistent! It very nice especially when you are 64 years old with a very bad left knee, lower back and I have Rheumatoid Arthritis! But...one of the fun parts of being older and disabled is playing from the forward tees!
I don't have to

#Bite the Billet

and play the back tees anymore! Gone is my 4 handicap....but I make do with my 13.7 index....and can still shoot in the mid 80's...which is fine by me!

The difference in performance of those 2 sets of clubs really made me "bite the billet" Pete! That's why I dropped my blades a few years ago for some decent players CBs. Love the channel!

Bite the Billet Batman!! I always love the theme of “expensive clubs cannot improve your game” haha

It's amazing how a change in manufacturing process can reduce the cost of a club (or anything) without changing anything on the consumer end, simply because the supply goes up. I think PXG is a good example of this

Another banger Pete. It really is interesting the expectations we attach to the price/make/model of clubs. There's plenty of significantly less expensive clubs that, for all intents and purposes, are perfectly adequate for the everyman and I applaud you for showcasing that. Also #BitetheBillet

I appreciate the honesty. Too many channels don't seem to want to give the little guys a fair assessment. Golf equipment can be extremely affordable without having to settle for junk.

I think the irons you mentioned in the beginning are the best option. Just get a set of Mizunos. Great video!

MORE Irons when they see they're getting a 2nd review on Peter's channel: 😃

MORE Irons when they realize they'll be directly compared to something 1/20th the price and just as good: 😱

The big change in irons was the redesign that introduced perimeter weighting to the edges. Compared to the old blades, that was a huge improvement for weekend golfers who had trouble swinging and hitting the sweet spot, while it may have made little difference to scratch golfers whose swings were much, much more consistent. The 21st Century version of perimeter weighting is to put as many screws and other adjustments into the club to allow for all sorts of customizations by the purchaser. The retail prices are shocking, and golfers will always be better served by improving their swings than be purchasing adjustable clubs in an effort to have new hardware fix what is essentially a software problem.

No doubt about it, I go with the XR2’s every time. Most of performance boils down to the quality of the strike anyway, and the XR2’s provide great value for the money. I could go on an amazing golf holiday for the price of the expensive clubs and still have money left over. Bite the Billet.
