This is the first of an ongoing video series about the various stages of production that your favourite Star Wars character, location, vehicle, creature, or scene underwent before hitting the big screen.

First up? The main man of the saga, everyone's favourite black knight of the Sith: Darth Vader

I met David Prowse 2 years at a Con in my home town Dale Con 3 he told me and my Bro how hot it was in the Darth Vader costume i shook his hand it was a honour to meet the greatest villain ever in cinematic history.

I remember being an 11 year old in theaters when Vader was unmasked and thinking "Vader is an old man??"

Every thing ive ever read/heard/etc on the matter was that the original line was "Obi wan killed your father"

Not just the suit/helmet design/voice but the way Darth Vader walked and carried himself was so menacing and reeked of ruthlessness. Even if Vader was just quiet and walking he frightened me so much

The Rouge One Vader scene is exactly how he was intended to be. Him emotionlessly cutting through rebels is something that was never really shown probably dude to a lack of choreography in the sequels but it fits so well.

Fun fact: Prowse was from Bristol in England which is where I’m from. He recently passed away and there are reports of putting a Darth Vader statue in our town centre in memory of him.

And I can understand from personal experience that our South-West English accent isnt very villainous, but can be intimidating.
