For my whole life I felt so isolated and not human compared to everyone else I knew, my friends, my classmates. I always got teased got my interests and hobbies, than one day I was sitting in the kitchen of my grandmas house watching the TV and that's when I hear the tune of "we are the crystal gems." And the color palette caught my attention. I remember watching the whole ep and thinking how Steven was like me, a energetic curious kid. Around that time I moved to mexico, a whole new place not knowing enough Spanish to speak but I knew what everyone was saying I just felt more alone. During this time I found out garnet was a fusion and I was fascinated that two people TWO WOMEN can have romantic love, one more reason I felt isolated, I never knew later on in life garnet would be the one to show me that its okay, i’m okay, for loving a girl. When I moved back to the US I was still watching the show, peridot came into the picture and I remeber always doing her voice. Tho I still felt very isolated at least I had something that can help me threw it, I made a few friends because of this show and it was amazing. Moving to a new school was hard, but all I did in class is draw steven universe characters. This show inspired a talent I never knew I had, the passion to imagine something on a piece of paper. I loved it. It was towards season 4 I lost interest for nearly a year but than change your mind and the movie came out and than my love for it came back. I remember after I watched the movie I was in class and than I drew my own characters for a show I didn't know the story yet but you can tell it was inspired by SU, then that week I decided that I wanted to make a show, I wanted to make a show as impactful at this.

When future came out I didnt know what to expect but god is was so weirdly specific with everything I went threw, everyone changing and stuff. Then the finale came out and I CRIED. Hearing being human made me feel that no matter how long I can feel human and loved. Here are some things I learned from the characters

Steven: You are able to make a difference big and small
Pearl: you can heal and move on
Amethyst: loving yourself is possible no matter how long it takes
Garent: you can love and you can be the love
Connie: you don't need magical powers to be strong and brave
Peridot and Bismuth: no matter what happens you are able to change
Lapis: theres a light at the end of a dark tunnel
Stevonnie: you are a experience

Today is December 24th, 2021, I wrote this a year ago and I do believe this comment is low-key cheesy but I’m glad a lot of you guys can relate to my experience with the show! This show still holds a place in my heart and I’m currently working on multiple stories I hope one day people can see, thank you for all the love and support in this comment it makes me very happy every time I get a response to this! I hope you all have a beautiful Holiday and New Years!

Edit: Wassup today is April 10th 2024, its been four years since 14 year old me commented this and I still got notifications and responses from this. Again glad to know a lot people had the same experience of this show like i did. I’m not gonna sit here and lie that my life has been perfect these past four years but I’m still here, i have my arms to write and draw, i have my eyes to see and experience, i have my brain to create and imagine, and my legs to drag me out of hell and back. i’m learning thats the most abundance i need. No great storyteller becomes great without triumph. 🫶 i’m 18 now and preparing myself for my senior year and soon college. I’ll be majoring in creative writing and get a certificate for film/tv production if all goes well, I never thought there would be a time where I’d say that. we all have to start somewhere :) hope to see you all at my hopefully future show premiere!

So basically on Steven universe early season, steven is trying to be a gem because he can't use his powers. And in the Steven universe future, his powers became stronger and stronger until steven himself can't control his own powers and this song is talking about being human.

So basically young steven is trying to be a gem. But now old steven is trying to be a human
