Oh no! You missed the famous Rookworst from the HEMA. It's a delicious smoked sausage!

Utrecht is like amsterdam, but with less tourists, and very cozy, really loved the vid.

What you missed ! :
* Muntkelder : poffertjes + glass of Ranja. Iconic Dutch treat for kids. I had that in De Muntkelder some 60 years ago.
* HEMA : tompoes, and 1/2 rookworst. HEMA-rookworst is hands down the best.
* Broodje Mario : unforgivable! It's iconic In Utrecht and about. I ate that a lot when I was a student in Utrecht. One bol makes for a whole meal.
* Pandhof : right next to the Dom church
* Kromme Nieuwegracht : much prettier and romantic than the Oudegracht.
* singels : the parks along the singels, i.e. the old moats surrounding the medieval city bastions.

It's very heartwarming to see German people (and americans!) actually enjoying Dutch food hahaha. As a Dutch person, I always return the favor by taking my Filipino girlfriend to Germany during christmas! German Christmas markets are the best! :D

As someone who lives half an hour drive away from Venlo, and who pretty much spent half his childhood in the Netherlands and grew up on this stuff, I can honestly say that I love dutch food and dutch supermarkets. I always totally pig out during my frequent shopping- and holiday trips across the border 🇩🇪♥️🇳🇱

I'm from Utrecht, I was probably paddleboarding on the Oude Gracht that very day! So nice to see bloggers appreciate the city 🤍❤ That little rabbit at the end is Miffy (Nijntje), an Utrecht icon and famous world round! Her label reads: "I'm not for sale!"

I love this video of Utrecht Netherlands. I wouldn’t mind living there because it so beautiful and peaceful especially near the water canal. Thank you Phil and Deana for sharing the perfect day. 🤗🥰

17:28 I don't know any Dutch, but it reminds me of German. "I am not for sale" is my guess? It's like, Ich bin nicht für <article> verkaufen?

We went to Utrecht in March and loved it, but it looks so much more lively in summer! We need to to back, it was my favorite city. A great mix of old town and modern near Tivoli concert hall without feeling like its lost its charm.

You really should go to Maastricht! I personally think this is the most beautiful city in the Netherlands that has a lot to offer

Dutch pea soup! My father taught me to make it when I was a kid! Our South African food owes a lot to Dutch cooking

Note: most of dutch culture (i can't speak for all of Europe) don't see beacon, or pancakes as desert or breakfast. Usually (in a household) it is considered as dinner (ofcourse often you don't eat just one). Unlike eggs something like pancakes takes too long in the morning to prepare (though even eggs is not an every day kind of thing. A well made breakfast like with beacon would be a bit more of a romantic gesture rather than a daily occurrence.

Eating something with hands or not is something that can have gray area's, like soup is usually hot so drinking straight from a bowl or plate would not be a good idea. For appelflappen though as a dutch person i Personally use my hands, especially since they crumble easily, but i think it's one of those gray area's. They can be hot if they are freshly baked/heated up, but the tips are usually cooler. There are also different ones. The ones you guys ate only looked like they had apple, but i am used to the ones that also have raisin.

That frietje kip is actually kinda fancy looking so it's not a regular dish and for 8 euro's you have a far better option elsewhere: the Kapsalon! A Dutch/Turkish dish with fries and kebab, eventually topped with cheese! Much better!

You guys were in the birth place of Dick Bruna! Founder of Nijntje (or Miffy); the illustrated cute bunny which you met at the end credits ("Ik ben niet voor de verkoop" means "I'm not for sale"). Next to that, it's also the birthplace of Gerrit Rietveld, one of the most famous Dutch architects and designers. The HEMA is indeed more suitable for a quick coffee break. The 'appelflappen' were unfortunately looking very sad and soggy. There are much better ones in a bakery. Glad you enjoyed Utrecht! Keep up the good work in Dusseldorf; I absolutely love that city. Greetings from The Netherlands :)
