It's heartwarming that MP stood by Ryan even after Rio. I remember Ryan was initially embarrassed to talk to MP after his incident, but MP kept his door open and when Ryan finally opened up about his struggles, MP was more than willing to help.

I'm glad we live in a day and age where Olympians can talk about mental health!

❤ They are not robots, they are human, with human issues just like everyone else.

I'm just glad that he went over his depression - it's no joke. Now he's a dad at night and a dad in the morning.

Total respect. Often when you go into peoples' homes you see pictures of them with celebs, all sorts of achievement awards, trophies, advanced diplomas etc.... He understands what he achieved, he doesn't need others to validate him.

Ryan, I hope you stop by this video occasionally and see the warm messages from people who appreciate the sacrifices you made for the love of swimming. It is so satisfying to see you settled and giving back to the sport through teaching the techniques of swimming and water safety and stressing a healthy mind set for just everyday living. I/we wish you continued good health and happiness in whatever path you choose ahead.

The "what now?" once the race you are training for is done is soooo relatable

I was working with the media at summer Nationals several years ago. I briefly chatted with him between his events- he was a very nice man. It's good to see he's doing well.

Hi, Ryan. Great to see you! Your WR still gives me chills. And you still have it. All of MP’s individual records are gone, that’s how incredible that one is. Forever in our hearts, Ryan. Taking care.

What a great story. There is nothing greater than helping others, to turn your pain into purpose. Sometimes depression is just an ego death that leads to that realization. Good job Ryan, and good job for prioritizing your family.

I got back in the water for overall therapy. The saying goes, "Over age 35, swimming is the best exercise. 2nd place? sleeping". It is amazing though I still the tug for speed and distance. I'm back in and still can't shake the regiment side. No worries. I always feel better after a swim - always.

He committed a crime in another country and suddenly he is a hero in the States. What a hypocrisy!

Aww love it, I waited on him and his family at the Ocean Deck in Daytona years ago, glad he's doing great now!

Why can’t he actually apologize for the disrespect to Brazil and their authorities?
