Pass-Through Charging Explained

If you want to know what pass-through charging is and how it works then this short video should give a good idea. Basically, with this feature, you can simultaneously charge your power bank and have the power bank charge another device.

Now, you should know that not all portable chargers come with pass-through charging. So if you're after one of these, then you need to make sure it comes with the feature.

Hi. Thanks for this. Pass-through charging means that the voltage and current supplied does not change when a power bank is connected to, and disconnected from wall power. For those of us just recharging portable devices, a brief interruption as we connect or disconnect wall power is acceptable. For those of us powering small compute devices (like a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, IP camera, travel router, etc.) "true" pass-through charging is required. No blips, no momentary cut-outs. The output power should be unrelated to the input power--an interruption means that the device will reboot, or possibly experience data corruption.

A few years ago I had a much easier time finding power banks with true pass-through charging. Maybe I was just lucky, I'm not sure, but I've been having a harder time finding small packs with no output interruption. I have a few small banks (meaning 10Ah or less, ) that claimed to support pass-through, but don't. I'd love to see an updated video showcasing banks that provide true, uninterrupted pass-through.

I use a power bank as a backup battery for an indoor security camera. I've tried with different power banks and all of them give power to the camera while they are charging, but the problem with all of them is that when their charger gets connected or disconnected, the power to the camera gets briefly disconnected making it go through a restart cycle. Is there any powerbank capable of keeping the power output undisrupted while it's own charger gets connected or disconnected?

With the pass through power bank, what happens when you cut off the power to the power bank? Does the power automatically continue to charge the speaker ?

what if the port meant to charge it broke is their a way to charge it through the usb cable using a different cord like usb to usb ?

Not mentioned, is that when you charge it? You are limited to how much you are charging it at, so if it's a 50. What charger you're only going to get fifty watts out of the battery

I agree Everyone should have passed through charging and the funny thing is is every cell phone has the capable of pass through charging this means that you can use your phone while charging it at the same time and no one says anything about your battery overheating in your phone and people use it all the time funny thing is people don't like this technology It gives you too much liberty only the high Tech people will understand what I mean

Who needs pass-through charging? If you want to use a power bank as a UPS, buy a UPS. If you want to charge a power bank and at the same time charge one or more devices that are powered by built-in rechargeable batteries, buy a wall charger with two or more outputs.
