Seems like the core, or 'heart of it (?🤨), from your opinion, narrative is playing on giving self control/discipline, to these (alleged) criminals? So, whether wrongfully, or rightfully sentenced - still, the *self* has to make radical changes, and here it's through (play)acting I guess? Surely, movie made to garner awards in its theme, and for main actor(s)☺

Sing Sing is cooked. I liked it, but it’s not the masterpiece that the earlier reviews were indicating. Might get a few Oscar nominations, but A24 massively screwed up its rollout. They understandably pushed it from 2023 to 2024 (as they were already pushing Past Lives and Zone of Interest for awards and triaging others like Iron Claw). However, all its buzz from TIFF 2023 evaporated, and almost no one outside of cinephiles has heard of it. A24 now just acquired The Brutalist, which will be their new focus for the awards season.

I can't connect with the prisoners of Sing Sing, especially living in a country with 50, 000 murders a year. In this film, they try to portray some humanity in the criminals, but I don't get it
