I spent just over 3 years in prison, almost 10 years ago. I didn’t do theater in there, but I and my fellow inmates were allowed to perform real, live music behind those brick walls and barbed wire. Those are the days when I would feel most free. I still have the notebooks filled with the words I wanted to sing, or scream maybe, through those bars and up and over those walls.

You’re supposed to be tough in prison, you know? No crying allowed. Yet I know when I watch this film I will probably cry like a baby, watching these men fight through the idle time and isolation of incarceration and yet somehow finding a way to escape it all; and in doing so remember that there’s still a soft and gentle soul alive inside each of us that just wants to play with the person that is suffering, standing right next to us. I damn near cried from the trailer alone. Can’t wait to see it. A24 doesn’t disappoint.

Coleman Domingo's face when she asks, "Are you acting right now." That is some serious acting right there. I felt that, how she twisted what he said, misses the point, perverted his beautiful experience into something sinister. His face told me all of that. Incredible.

Sobbing already. Just Coleman's face when she asked if he was acting was enough. One of the best actors working right now, and I'm so happy to see him in leading roles.

My dad did time in Sing Sing; when he was locked up, I was there with him as a 9 year old. Ultimately he was shot and killed by the police. They came 100 deep that day. All that to say, anything that helps men get through the American penal system with some grace, dignity and humanity … I’ll support. Looking forward to the film.

A 24 has gained quite the positive reputation for quality, in a very short period of time. With all of the big movie makers controlled by corporations right now, it's good that we have a production company that still makes art.

Don't ever sell out, A24. We still need cinema, and you provide it to us.

I was in a program just like this one while I was locked up. It was the one thing that got me through my time. We as the ensemble still chat to this day. We came together as a family and remain a family. I am soooo happy someone decided to make a movie about this. Long live Shakespeare and long live all the SIP programs

Coleman Dimingo really lights up the screen with every performance. What an incredible actor. I see a Best Actor Academy Award in his near future.

i am not exaggerating when i say that this probably one of the most profound, human and life-affirming movies i've ever seen. it deserves all the praise it can get in every department. in such uncertain times, this movie has given me hope. please, go watch it and support it. you will leave a changed person after.

The clips from the clemency hearing show how good the acting is. When is talking at 0:40 it could be a real interview, just natural acting. And then the sudden disappointment / fear on hearing the question “so are you acting now” Just magnificent acting

First film that made me cry. Mind you I'm 14 and I don't usually react like this to films, but when Divine G finally reached his breaking point during the dress rehearsal, it made me teary eyed. It was barely a cry but it hit me hard. It was a lot slower film to what I'm used to, and it meant the connection to the characters was a lot deeper, and reinforced those relationships. Incredible film.

So glad Colman is getting his shots in as a leading actor in projects now. He is such a force! I can't wait to be in the theaters smiling, sobbing, cheering, etc to this

The stories from Sing Sing Prison have always captivated me, and I am beyond excited for this movie. It’s been my dream to write a film about the production of the 1972 Thanksgiving show—something about prison and the blues pulls on the heart. This trailer promises the same exploration of humanity, the impossibility of it all and that fleeting feeling of triumph.

I was born and raised in Ossining, one block parallel to Sing Sing. My grandpa was best friends with Warden Lawes. A whole lot of people worked for the prison in some capacity--laundry, food service, so many jobs in addition to guards. My cousin and I used to pick the honeysuckle on the fence that let you see the Yard waaay below--the towers, all of it. So I really, really want to see this movie.

I saw this movie last night. It is extraordinary. The acting, the story, the character development, all exceptional. One of my favorites of the year without question. Colman Domingo and Clarence Maclin are particularly profound.
