Count Dooku says that the fight between the two can be define not by they use of the force, but with their skill with the saber. Yoda uses the lightsaber because his mastery with the force is not enough to beat Sidious and Dooku, otherwise he would end the fight earlier.

But yoda is much older in the originals and has had many years alone to think on the effectiveness of a lightsaber compared to the force

Well WE know that its 4, 5, 6, 1, 2 and 3
But in the films are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 so someone could say he got more wise
And well the prequels are a different time then the original trilogy so of course he kinda had to fight a lightsaber with a lightsaber

Yoda yielded a green lightsaber because it fit the lore of those of wield it, most Jedi who choose a green crystal focus on the force rather than physical combat, just look at Qui-Gon but that doesn't mean every green crystal wielder has to be a force megalomaniac [Yaddle is another example], Yoda literally mentored Dooku way way before the prequels and most of what he taught him stayed with Dooku and thats kind of why Dooku is so fast even at a old age, so Yoda only fights when its absolutely necessary otherwise he just tosses people backwards and forwards like how he tossed Palpatine's guards before their fight

I know this probably a big surprise, but MAYBE, just maybe, Yoda matured and learned from his mistakes after spending twenty years alone in exile after his failures

Good video! However I think that Yoda couldn’t beat Dooku and Sidious with the force alone, and he needed to use his lightsaber to give a good fight

Yoda fighting Doku was pre-Clone wars, if i remember correctly.
The he was one of the Generals, ultimately betrayed by them due to Order 66. Shortly after, he encountered Sidious.
This was his last fight with a lightsaber.
This and their inability to forsee these events most likely led Yoda to the path of meditation and prioritising the force over a fight with a saber.

It isn't contradicting, it shows growth and gain of wisdom even in his late years.

Not only that, he most likely knew Luke was Anakin's son, who was a great fighter, and while being strong with the force, never really used it directly. It's possible Yoda saw this as a potential way to the dark side and focusing on the force could help Luke stay not the light side.

I think it's only logical that yoda knows how to duel, I mean, how would he have fought sidious or dooku? With only the force?

That's sort of the point yoda is wise and always leads with that wisdom but like any true man is able to fuck shit up when the need truly arises but it is never the first recourse. BE LIKE YODA

This is so damn true. And it makes so much damn

As a grandmaster, yoda knows that there are better solutions than just fighting, but he's never afraid to use a lightsaber if needed

Yoda and Sidious both didn't like Lightsaber fights since they preferred fighting with the help of the Force. Homever, Yoda couldn't just stand there and throw pebbles at Dooku and Sidious. He's a Jedi, and as a Jedi you HAVE TO be able to defend yourself with a lightsaber, even if you don't like fighting.

Yoda wasn't ruined. He outright said in ROTS that he wasn't the one he supposed to be, a spiritual leader after failing everyone and failed to defeat Sidious. That is the exact reason why Yoda went to exile so he can reflect and take on everything he did wrong when the Order was still standing.

And you seem to forget something, even in the original, even if Yoda is pacifistic, he is someone who *will do* everything that he knows he has to do. He was the one that pushes Luke to kill his father. So him fending off Dooku to save Anakin, and him duking it out with Sidious to stop the Empire since its begining is not out of character for him

There were a lot of things wrong with the prequels but Yoda was not one of them imo

It's better that we saw Yoda as the saber welding frog so we can see how much Yoda grew over the years.

He did focus on the force hence his green kyber crystal, but being the grandmaster he was the best duelist plus he did use lightsaber combat as a last resort

Simple. After spending 2 decades in exile and training under Qui-Gon, he saw the error of his ways and realised that conflict doesn’t solve everything.

Thanks to prequels we know character of Yoda was developed not given at birth.

One could argue that's the point. It shows how the jedi lost their way And maybe yoda started that way But as time went on Even the great grand masters started to steer away from his beleifs and he didnt see that and revert too his old ways until after the jedi fell and he heard qui gon jin in the force
