The Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, is a beautiful open star cluster located in the constellation Taurus. In Greek mythology, the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the titan Atlas and the sea-nymph Pleione.
According to the myth, the sisters were pursued by the hunter Orion. To protect them, Zeus transformed them into stars and placed them in the sky. Orion continues to chase them across the heavens.
