Hi GMAT Ninja Team, great job putting these videos out! I just had one query regarding the wild-animals question (the last one) : Why can't the "that of" present in options C and D refer back to "total fat"? That way, the sentence holds up as per my inference.

Hi Harry,

In the last example, I thought the right answer was going to be C.
In my mind, "that of" could be replaced by "the total fat of" which just precedented it and made sense. It was however not considered, thus discarding C.
Could you clarify why?

Thanks in advance!

Hey!
I believe the last example has a mistake / discrepancy between the screenshot and whiteboard. When you show the screenshot, Option (B) does not include the comparison "than do", which made me really confused because there was no right answer. Then when you show the question on the whiteboard, the comparison "than do" is included in the answer choice (B).

Hi Ninja team! Thankyou so much for the awesome video! Greatly appreciated! I have a question regarding the last question of this video. Why we cannot refer to ''total fat'' with the demonstrative pronoun ''that of''? for example, option c would be ''wild animals have less total fat than the total fat of livestock fed on grain?'' Thankyou so much for answering!!

Amazing lecture. I started my gmat prep today and was having a lot of trouble with SC however these 3 videos helped me understand the concept a bit more. Looking forward to the rest of the series(Quant as well). Also, should I start solving questions now or after I get a better grasp on the concepts?

Hey Harry and Charles! I have a little question, I just finished watching the old SC videos ( the 8 videos) is there any difference between this series and the older one? Thank you very much for the great videos

Hi, first of all. thank you for the video. Also, I think there is a mismatch btw the typed version and the handwritten versions of Question 2, answer choice B. The typed one does not have the word "do", which made me go for option A instead. Would the lack of the word "do" disqualified option B? Thank you.

Hi there! Solved the last problem untimed and got it right, not sure if this is correct approach while learning hard questions. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Hi. I had a small doubt in the last question - "According to recent studies comparing the nutritional value....". In Option C or Option E, can't "that of" refer to fat of the livestock? We can say - Wild animals have less total fat than the fat of the livestock. Fat is singular and can go with "that". Also, we are comparing 2 similar things, aren't we?

Also, if we go by the logic that the first part of the sentence compares one nutritional value with another, the second part of sentence starts with the wild animal having less fat (which, according to the exam, is a way of representing nutritional value because they were talking about nutritional values in the first part of the sentence) to "that" of the livestock (could refer to the fat of the livestock in that case right? Because the fat content is mentioned in the first part of the comparison, isn't it?)

Hey Harry! Amazing explanation throughout video. Just one query on the wild animals / livestock problem - when analyzing the choice C, you started off by saying what are my options for "that" pronoun. Then you started scanning the previous part of sentence and said "nutritional value" and "meat" are your two option to substitute and check if it makes sense. So my question and understanding are

#1 Why didn't you try plugging in "fat" in the place of pronoun "that"? Resultant construction made sense to me when I was attempting this problem for the first time.

#2 Are we establishing that the entity/item that is being compared ("fat" in this case) cannot be substituted back in the place of "that"?

Many thanks for the great work you and your team is putting up.

Great video! I have a question regarding the last question. Option b says “than livestock fed…” and in the board it is written “than do livestock fed”. Does it change anything in this case?

The strategy of replacing the words 'that' and 'those' with nouns and reading the entire sentence again is great.
