Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a strategy action role-playing video game developed and published by TaleWorlds Entertainment, and co-published by Prime Matter. It is a prequel to Mount & Blade: Warband, a stand-alone expansion for the 2008 game Mount & Blade.

Bannerlord takes place 210 years before its predecessor, with a setting inspired by the Migration Period. Bannerlord was announced in 2012. A Steam page for the game was created in late 2015; the following year, TaleWorlds began releasing weekly developer diaries detailing elements of the game. An early access version of the game was released on March 27, 2020 and quickly became the largest launch of the year on Steam, achieving nearly 250,000 concurrent players on Steam.

The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 25, 2022.

Ive heard a lot of people say this. Im lucky i looked around and kept an eye on my wages. Its my first playthrough and one of the first things i did was buy a business and now 2/3 of my wages are paid for.

In the beginning of the game I tour around the empire and vlandia doing tournaments until I've racked enough money to begin smithing. Then I buy hardwood from battania and iron from rovalt and start smithing while doing tournaments. Once I have 3 workshops going, I can field 93 troops with some elite units without breaking a sweat financially. You only have to defeat a lord once to get some legendary item that sells for 25k and instantly validates all your spending. Only downside is that workshops get demolished by warring factions.

What i am doing in my current run:
1. Archer only, Fian champs only also
2. I am vassal under Battania
3. Capture a shit ton of enemy lords during wars and sell their armies loot for massive profit
4. Always be at constant war
5. *USA military complex industry in a nutshell*

In my kingdom the military industrial complex keeps my soldiers with the latest and greatest of gear.

I usually start with 20 men maxed around tier 2 until becoming a mercenary then i would go for 50-60 men with tier 3s but leaning heavily on tier 2s

if you can't afford upkeep you're playing wrong. Just do tourneys in towns and you'll be able to afford any army. Look out particularly for the ones that add horses as they can sell for 20k+

Here’s the issue with my armies. They get so high level that I need to fight multiple armies to get enough loot and influence for my army to gain gold, (I’m doing a mercenary army only thing) but armies run away because the armies I fight are ethier full of recruits or just 30 cab units. So I Seige and defend castles, that gives you good cash

Ive honestly never had this issue, just gotta understand how to maintain your funds with trades and caravans, they basically pay for your army and give you extra

And i assure you, i do the exact same thing, maxing out my troop, upgrading them as much as possible and so on

I'm Vlandia, married Corein. Trying to keep mostly banner knights, fian champs, elite cats, sergeants and legionaries. I am in constant attack from the sturgians and constantly destroying them and just making more money than I even spend on troops. 🙌🏽 Merica

That’s why you go trader for first 1 1/2 clan tiers with shops and a couple caravans, make money in jail and a lot on the battlefield cuz loot plus everything on top

The trick to keep up with the upkeep is war. Destroying smaller armies is the easiest way to get loot. I got well over 2 million denars that way and it was easy

Easy way to fix that is pick up furs from the northern towns of valandia and car banneth also the sturgians. Then proceed to walk south and sell through the empire and asrai lands for 300 after buying them for 100 a piece. Then rotate dates going back north. Can buy them for less than 20 and drop them for over 70 and move around 150 of them per town. Keep your troops a level below max to help with cost and when a war kicks off turn around and upgrade and use prisoners and gear to make a nasty profit. I also take the perks to get rid of gear for XP and keep my troops a bit lower than 1 down from max and save a bunch of gear from looters to have an elite army for when wars kick off.

Never encountered this issue lol, as long as youre making money from wars and battles youre fine.

Try this with Aseri mamaluke palace guards ....that's...unsustainable ...

Yeah it’s unsustainable if your tier 5+ troops are just garrisoned somewhere but you should be using them to just steamroll whole armies and sell the good loot in enemy cities in exchange for gold and their grain. They don’t have good and when they become hostile again you can just starve them in sieges
