Johannes Knudsen was a danish machinist / engine engineer on the MAERSK ship Ellen, who duing a storm off of the coast of Wakayama, saw a japanese ship in distress. He tried to save the people on board but unfortunately drowned duing so. He was posthumously awarded the Order of the Rising Sun.

Solo Solo Travel has been one of my favorite channels to watch when I want to relax or wind down before bed, but holy HECKO, the subtitles! I like the way it is possible to visit small stations & thay there may be a little art or music there. In the U.K. there is rarely anything playful & if you stop at a small station you will probably be stuck there for more than an hour, with no food & drink & probably not even a warm waiting room, even if the weather is cold.

Japan is a very beautiful country. The trains are all beautiful, of any class. I noticed that all the trains have large windows, it's beautiful. I'm Danish and i had to look Johannes Knudsen up. I had no idea who he was.
Apparently he was an engineer on a Mærsk ship in 1957 who tried to save a Japanese ship in trouble. He lost his life. Not sure if he managed to save the Japanese sailors before he died. Anyway. While we have forgotten him, it seems you guys has not.
