This may be the first time where I actually wouldn’t mind if this video didn’t get that many views 🤣 lololol —but all kidding aside, I’ve been wanting to do this for a while—that is: share some of my more disappointing art—mostly to normalize this part of our art journey and also because I feel like as a content creator I get to cheat and just edit out all the bad stuff and only show you my best stuff and I feel like its ultimately untrue and sets an unfair bar for everyone to live up to. When the reality is I make BAD art all the time! And its part of the practice towards getting good! So wanted to celebrate my bad art with you all! And hopefully you can relate!

I was expecting something really bad but they are pretty good. Some of the proportions and teeth don’t look right but some of the pictures look good. Honest feedback, your art work is good for your level of competency at the time.

These look more like caricatures rather than bad art in my opinion, also at the first one I was like: IS THAT CHIDI? And yaas it is Chidi and then I was like looking at the drawing for the next few minutes lol bc I haven’t really saw much art that’s from The Good Place soo yeah, thank you for making my day!

This refreshing humility reminds me of the "growth mindset" lessons that my kid did at school. People should be encouraged, even if your bad art is relatively good, because your openness is applicable to all walks of life and to artists and non- artists alike. Admitting what you don't yet know or can't yet do is key to making progress, which you clearly did! Thank you for this vid x

Imo, I think more artists should show their bad art/sketches more often, because it's (oddly) inspirational and shows that being a good artist doesn't mean creating a masterpiece/good art piece all the time. The first time I considered being able to make it as an artist and gain the confidence to do so was when I saw quick scribbles/gesture drawings and poorly-made sketches from some of my teachers' old sketchbooks, and I don't think I would've gotten the courage to get into drawing/sketching if there weren't artists that taught that personal sketchbooks can be a "safe place to fail over and over until you improve" (if that makes sense).

I really like your old art!! Maybe it wasn’t what you were going for at the time, but it turned out looking like a style that I look out for for inspiration, the imperfections in these drawing are what makes it so good
