What causes chest pain with normal ECG report? - Dr. Anantharaman Ramakrishnan

Many people want to know what is the cause for chest pain, when the ECG is normal, especially when there is breathlessness and sever left arm pain, and the ECG is normal. The causes for chest pain apart from heart attack is pulmonary embolism, dissection of aorta. All these are serious issues which may not get diagnosed using ECG. So whenever these symptoms present themselves, you need to find out the cause. You need to visit an emergency room if it is sudden onset. If this kind of symptom is coming repeatedly, common cause can be an anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorders with panic attacks. It is a psychiatric illness. It requires treatment. Better to seek medical help and examined thoroughly. Valvular heart disease can also present like this with chest pain, palpitation, dizziness etc. So these symptoms are cardiac in nature, but always may not mean heart attack.

My psychologist told me that when you’ve been suffering anxiety for a long time it puts strain on your chest muscles.Once your anxiety lifts so will the chest pain just try & relax & it will go.

I got test done and everything came back normals but I still get stabbing chest pains a and sometimes pressure feeling It makes me so anxious

Omfg, stop blaming everything on anxiety. Start actually putting in the effort and looking for what is causing people pain and stop dismissing it as anxiety.

I called 999 yesterday because I had sudden chest and upper back pain and breathlessness accompanied by a resting heart rate of 120. They told me that it wasn't immediately life-threatening so couldn't send an ambulance but advised me to go to AnE within the hour. ECG was normal (according to the second nurse, but the top of the page should sinus tachycardia, nonspecific t wave abnormality, abnormal ECG rhythm, so not really convinced she knew what she was talking about). The pain continued to get worse and spread into my left shoulder, and the breathlessness was getting worse too. I went home against medical advice after I was told it wasn't a heart attack because my ECG was normal but they wanted to do blood tests to rule out a heart attack. Can someone tell me what the doctors couldn't? Could it have been a heart attack or not?

Iam 29 years old and i have chest discomfort. Fill like pain is moving to my arms and neck. Also feeling dizzy and nauseous, gets tired very quickly.
And fill numbness in my legs and arms.

My ECG was fine+blood tests, great, all test done in A+E..but still have heart pain..and I am not stresses either🤔

I get the same and when I go to bed I get to many pain of the pain from chest pain and I get in the pain in the sleep soon I drink water go away every day I get chest pain and in the sleep I have to drink water then stop

a girl of 23 yrs have a chronic pain on left upper qudrant of left breast. the pain not superficial not too much deep. and most of the time it radiates towards the left arm. pain stays for several hours and then disappear automatically. generally it is twice or thrice in a month sometimes once.the pain is from past 5 or 6 yrs...ecg report was abnormal before 5 yrs, so had taken some medication and did echo with dopler effect and the report was normal, no further treatment. type 2 ultrasound has done for breast and the recent report is normal but the pain is still there.. what should do ?what may be the cause?
