How to Use Touch Pad on PlayStation Portal

How to access the touchpad on PS Portal, including pressing the button. The touchpad is accessible on the PS5 DualSense controller.

My question is it works fine in menu but in game i cant bring any thing up on games that require the center button for the menu. Meaning like 90% of games it doesnt work for. How do i get it to work. From my understanding you tap once to bring it up then quickly tap and hold to hold the button down. But it doesnt do anything at all
