Hiking Smolenski Park

The temperature was nearly 60°F today so I went to the nearby park to hike through the woods. It's a city park that has a nice pine woodland with a fair amount of trails. I'm not sure how long the trails are in total, but I'd guess around 2.5 miles when adding on the hidden trails and a newly added trail in a field.

Being warm today, I was hoping I may find some snakes, but that didn't happen. The wind may have kept them in hiding. I did, however, hear Western Chorus Frogs calling in a vernal pond just off the border of the park. That's always a great sign of Spring, and usually they aren't heard for another couple of weeks.

Besides that, there wasn't much more to see in terms of animals. A pair of geese were swimming around the pond, and Cardinals, Chickadees, and Red-winged Blackbirds were out chirping and hopping from branch to branch.

Overall it was a nice hike in the woods and a great way to spend a few extra hours on a Monday.
