In this video: join me our Tokyo trip PART 2, Tokyo fun facts, Studio Ghibli museum visit and some life changing revelations (and all the emotions). THANK YOU KEVIN for writing the spanish subtitleees!

For behind the scenes into all the projects I'm working on RIGHT NOW, more sketchbook tours, secret Q&As and my sassy podcast-newsletter, support my work on Patreon! :)

This video would have not look as cool and pro without the help of good ol' Ed:

Follow meeeeee!

Camera
Canon Eos m with a 22 lens
I use Adobe Premiere!

things you don't know about this video: I'M SO SICK YOU GUUUYS, today I'm going to take it easy and spend my day in bed. With time I've learn that when sick it's better to take time off and re-charge, than pretend or force yourself to be productive, work half-capacity and then wake up worse the next day. So, my plan for today: read, watch Big Mouth, drink lots of water, orange juice and eat tangerines!

Your creative ‘missteps’ in the English language are one of the things I most enjoy about this channel. They teach me, a native speaker, something new and fresh about the way our language works. When my husband would see me watching one of your videos he’d ask, “is this the creative English language lady?” because I used to pause and repeat my favorite bits. Your diversions from “proper” English are as creative, charming and endearing to me as your drawings are. As time goes by, I notice them less and less. Partly me acclimating and partly you improving. I support you wanting to improve but will be sad to see the language fluidity and creativity shift to a more proper, ho-hum state.

This is so beautiful, Fran. Made me tear up seeing this — I love how you told us such a touching story, feels like I’m there with you. Keep doing you cause you are such an inspiration

I teared up a bit because I hold studio ghibli movies close to my heart. They helped me heal my heart through everything I've went to. I love you and you're one of my favorite artists. Your English is so good <3

You know that feeling when get out of a movie theater, like LITERALLY walking out of the room after watching an awesome movie? When you still haven't completely "left" the world set by the movie and you feel so pumped up! If it's an action movie you feel like you can kick ass, if its a musical you feel like you can just walk out of there doing amazing moves? That's how traveling feels to me x10000. It makes me open my eyes to so many possibilities and it makes me want to do it all! Thank you fran for this video, for reminding me how important it is to try and keep traveling!

I really identify with the way you feel when traveling, and how you want to have a big life and affect others positively with your work. Thank you for this beautiful video. Knowing that wonderful people like you exist is a comfort *hug*

Fran, you already give it back. It was you who encouraged me to start drawing again after many many years of just thinking about it and wasting time.

The everyday sounds of Japan always make me tear up and feel so much joy and comfort. I cannot wait to go back again one day and be able to see even more of it and go to the museum and be immersed in the incredible world of Studio Ghibli. I love your vlogs so much, and your Japan ones are by far my favorite videos to watch, thank you. You are such a beautiful soul and a beautiful woman, keep being yourself always

I think it's so true that travel changes you. Especially when it's a long trip. I spent my 40th birthday in Egypt. I was living there on and off for 2 years. It changed me as an artist and a person.

Your English has gotten a lot better throughout the years Fran!
I've been following you for about 3 to 4 years now and I've definitely noticed it gradually improve!
It's also my dream to go to Japan so this video was very dreamy to watch.

Get well soon! I always love when artists' go to Japan and vlog because they show the things that others would deem boring or miniscule. Such as the signs, the characters, and even just the streets.

I cried when you went to the Studio Ghibli museum. It has been a dream of mine for several years to visit there. These films have such a special place on my life, not only for how they have affected me, but also because a few years ago my autistic son became enamored with them and really connected to the characters and stories. It gives him such joy that absolutely shines. He watches videos of Miyazaki and Kazuo Oga creating and I see the wheels turning in his mind. He searches maps of Japan to find Totoro's forest 😊

I want you to know that what you aspire to, creating art that inspires and gives joy to the world, like Ghibli, you have certainly achieved. I am only one person, and can only speak for myself (though I suspect many would agree with me) your art gives me such joy. And sharing your process, your struggles and perseverance is so valuable. It M O T I V A T E S for reeeal. Sometimes I am in awe of how much of a hard worker you are.

Your English is basically perfect😊 I commented once how improved both you and Ed are, but I wrote it in Spanish and am afraid it wasn't coherent! Haha my Spanish needs a lot of work.

Sorry for writing a novel here, I had to say something though because I love all your videos but this one so moved me😊

What first made me connect with your videos was how you spoke english in such a confident and calm way, even if you didn't get every word perfectly. I am also a spanish speaking person living in an english speaking place, and I admired you so much for not letting the language get in the way of you expressing yourself confidently. I hope I'll be able to do the same someday💜

This is lovely. A really great perspective on change and personal development. I've always been quite fearful of change. Travel really helps to push the boundaries of my comfort zone and get to know myself better. Japan looks like an incredible place. :)

I got so teary when you started talking about studio ghibli. I feel the same way! All the movies are beautiful, raw, nostalgic, for me. I know for a fact that I'd cry too if I got to visit the museum! 😢😢😢

Your words about wanting to create things to make yourself and other people happy really hit home for me. I love The Muppets the way you love Ghibli and Jim Henson has a lovely quote I think you will like - “My hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here.” I hope you feel better soon lovely lady x

This video about your Tokyo trip made me so emotional again. I miss the sounds at the stations, the little neighbourhoods with plants in front of the building... Nicely captured.
It's true that travelling is a great investment and it's a nice time out. I don't think about work at all when I'm away. I've travelled just twice in my life (I'm 27), but so far I came back home with little 'personal goals/projects'. It inspires and keeps me interested in learning. It can be challenging, but it's worth it.
Hope you're feeling better.
