Utah's NHL Team Names Are Not Good

It's been a huge past few weeks for the state of Utah with the addition of an NHL team to Salt Lake City. The only concern that has been raised is what the new name will be. Many fans online have come up with ideas and concepts. In this video we break them all downn.

Raptors can not work due to Toronto Raptors of the NBA which Ryan Smith owns the Jazz so naming his other pro team after a Jazz competitor will NEVER HAPPEN LEGALLY. There are 17 pro and semi pro teams with Outlaws as their name so it will probably get blocked due to copyright issues. And too common.

Since the Phoenix Coyotes are in line to be an expansion team like the 1999 Cleveland Browns relaunch, the Utah team should be the Roadrunners. That way if and when Phoenix gets the Coyotes back there's a built in rivalry.

Utah Raptors would be a solid choice given the state dinosaur is the Utahraptor. Other pro teams share names... Giants, Cardinals, Jets, Rangers... so I don't see that being a problem sharing Raptors with Toronto. Utah Mammoth could be pretty solid as well. All the other choices are 'meh' at best. Maybe they could be called the Utah Powder and have their mascot be soft, fluffy snow! 😂

Any name that has been used in the major sports should not be used.

My vote is the Utah Mammoth. It's really grown on me. Would love the Raptors, but it just reminds me too much of the Ogden Raptors.

Stagg is definitely not it. A stagg is a Red Deer which are not in Utah, they are in places like New Zealand.

I'd bet money that "Utah Ice" wasn't submitted as a possible name for the team. My guess is it was submitted as a possible name for a business arm that will focus on Ice rink development around the state. my guess is there will be at least 2 more names submitted for trademarks before the bracket comes out. Or at least I hope all that is the case.

A bunch of the ones with legs are just lifted from Colorado teams. Yeti was the Avs' mascot, Blizzard is barely different from Avalanche, Mammoth is the Colorado indoor lacrosse team, Outlaws are the Colorado outdoor lacrosse team. Something related to Elk or Dinosaurs would be dope

You could also go with "Honeybees" or something with that theme since it's the beehive state. Uniforms is ambers and black, works in the honeycomb pattern. plays come out on the ice while you have buzzing sound effects and the arena is nicknamed "The Hive". And during breaks you get shots on the "Honey-cam". It'd be a distinct name. And while it may not be the most intimidating sounding name, one could say that of Ducks and Penguins too.

The last three you named, i would be completely fine with, Stags has really grown on me over the last week, Mammoth has been my clear runaway though cuz you can have so many dope themes and concepts around a Mammoth team
