I tried creating a Rust backend (Actix web + Tera templates), and load tested it, a week ago and was blown away by how easy it was and how extremely performant it was.
1. It was able to serve about 4x the amount of request that .NET Core did.
2. It never went above 10MB of RAM. .NET Core was pending between 450MB to 650MB of RAM usage (I guess it could be lower with GC optimizations).

The only drawback right now is that the ecosystem of Rust is not as mature or vast as that of .NET.
I can see myself developing gRPC services with Rust though, to handle more specialized and intensive work.
Rust also has a pretty good future for WASM.
