I don’t think Microsoft will stop making consoles. I think they will release some of their games on PlayStation and Nintendo. They might convert some people to Xbox but they will still get more income from people just buying their games on other platforms. They will keep making Xbox to have a dedicated platform for their game pass service.

MS recently invested over 80 billion in the Xbox brand and haven’t even received the fruits of ABK yet. Xbox isn’t leaving they now own the biggest war chest in all of console gaming.

I definitely don't think Xbox is going to leave the console market. A lot of the moves Xbox has been making, in the recent years, I feel are meant for setting things up for themselves in the future. The biggest reason being the activision/Blizzard buyout. They've been pretty clear about making some big titles exclusively for Xbox, while the others being introduced to Game Pass.

I can’t believe how incredibly uninformed you guys are about the 2024 Xbox Road Map. It’s either deliberate or incompetent. Xbox’s 2024 First Party Lineup includes Hellblade 2, Avowed, Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, ARA History Untold, Flight Simulator 2024, the Starfield Shattered Space expansion and possibly even Clockwork Revolution or South of Midnight and a rumored game from Double Fine called Kiln. PlayStation has Hell Divers 2 (Second Party) & MLB The Show (which is on Game Pass on release date). Pretty mind blowing that you guys are able to somehow do this for living while being completely ignorant about what’s going on the industry.

So a Microsoft game going to other platforms means that Microsoft is leaving the console space?? LMAO. Anything to get clicks I suppose. By that logic, Sony should have abandoned the console market because MLB The Show is now on XBOX.

Some things to point out regarding this discussion:
1. Development costs are indeed going up and Microsoft's already apparent strategy to become an ecosystem makes the idea of making some their titles multi-platform makes sense and given the size of the install base on both rival platforms, this is a potentially big source of revenue for them. Sony's approach to meet these ever-increasing development costs is make an attempt at the live service model (which this channel and most are stigmatizing) with games that will be available to play by everyone.

2. You should know that whole not wanting cross play wasn't just limited to Sony at that time. Not sure if you are aware, but you failed to mention why FFXIV wasn't on XBOX. Well, it was because Microsoft didn't want cross play. Try to give credit where credit's due, guys, even when it's negative.

3. I find it insanely ironic how the Lies of P's reception was pretty positive on PlayStation and Steam, but on XBOX was pretty mid to low due to the engagement of that game on the XBOX platform perhaps due to people trying it out and just weren't hooked. Josh himself stated that Lies of P is a game he never would've bothered to try if weren't for Gamepass. Apparently he liked the game, but it would've been nice if it was a purchase. Now I get Gamepass is good for exposure, but what about sales? Sales is an important facet when the talk of development costs constantly rising is present in this conversation.

4. Gamepass saving money: I wonder of the "sign up for a subscription service for something that's good or anticipated and then cancel with that something isn't present" consumer behavior present on Gamepass? Take COD, for example: Assume one engages with COD on Gamepass for a year. That's $11(?) a month on standard Gamepass which equates to $132, and Ultimate is $17(?) a month which equates to $204 a year. So buying COD at $70 and just playing that game for months on end is the better deal, isn't it? It's important to consider that a large number of COD players ONLY PLAY COD.
