As someone who lives in the poorest Brazilian state (Venezuela), I confirm that everything in this video is true.

If you live in a small portuguese town instead of rapid gunfire early in the morning, the loud music and drunk laughter immediately transitions to old people at the praça conduct lectures on why João (there's 8 different guys with the same name and they expect you to know which) owes José almost 100€ and that Mariana (there's like 14 of them that share the same name) is a bitch for looking at her general direction.

As a majorly Portuguese descending Brazilian, this is an absolute banger. My ancestors might be Portuguese, but I’m fully Brazilian; Diga ao povo que fico

Brazilian flag lore: The style for the flag was first created in 1822 for the Empire of Brazil. The green in the Brazilian flag originally came from the Coat of Arms of the House of Braganza as Emperor Pedro I belonged to it, while the yellow came from the House of Habsburg as his wife Empress Maria Leopoldina belonged to the Habsburgs. But after the republic was proclaimed in 1889, the flag changed. First it became a USA-inspired design with stars and green and yellow stripes, but then this flag was changed just four days after with a globe. The stars symbolize the different states of the country (currently 26) as well as the Federal District which is the capital. When it was adopted, it had 21 stars, but there's now 27 stars since 1992.

And their anthem is a work of art. The melody was composed by Francisco Manuel da Silva and was presented to the public in April 1831. From the Brazilian proclamation of independence in 1822 until the 1831 abdication, an anthem that had been composed by Pedro I himself was used as the national anthem. In the immediate aftermath of the abdication of Pedro I, the anthem composed by him fell in popularity. Thus Francisco seized this opportunity to present his composition. The melody then had been given at least two sets of unofficial lyrics before a 1922 decree gave the anthem its official lyrics by Joaquim Osório Duque-Estrada, after several changes were made to his proposal, written in 1909.

Speaking of China, here's a friendly reminder that the Portuguese Empire lasted until 1999 thanks to Macau. Macau's an interesting case. Basically after the 12-3 incident in December 1966 which there were huge Cultural Revolution-inspired riots, the colonial government agreed to meet the demands of the protesters, and the colonial government recognized Macau as de facto PRC control, although the colonial government remained. However, the Estado Novo regime continued to view Macau as an Overseas Province. That of course changed with the Carnation Revolution. Portugal offered to withdraw completely from Macau by late 1974, but China declined in favor of a later time because it sought to preserve international and local confidence in Hong Kong which was still British.

In 1975, they withdrew their remaining troops. In 1976, the Portuguese government recognized Macau as a territory rather than an overseas province. In 1979, they established relations with the PRC and ended relations with the ROC. After the Sino-British Joint Declaration was signed in 1984, negotiations began for Macau and under the Sino-Portuguese Joint Declaration in 1987, the Portuguese government finally recognized what was already established in 1966. In 1993, the Basic Law of Macau was passed by the National People's Congress. Macau remained Portuguese until 1999, making it the last European colony in Asia, and ending 442 years of Portuguese rule in the region.

I think one of the reasons why the tree cover decreased a lot in Portugal is because of the big wildfires happening yearly unfortunately

As a portuguese, I love our brazilian irmãos. There's nothing like portuguese vs brazilian banter, it's not even on par with US / UK or Spain / Mexico.

"The Brazilian house on the inside" bit is the most accurate shit I've seen, it still amazes me that even on some of the poorest slums I can still find cozy places that are 10x better than my own house (and my crib is fucking great)
