Finally Getting LASIK - NOT what we expected

This did not go how we expected. We have been looking into LASIK for a while now. Amanda’s eyes stopped responding to contacts. Kept getting infected. Migraines. The whole thing. Glasses gave her headaches too. So she just had to stop wearing contacts altogether.

So we saved like crazy and scheduled her appointment for this week to see if she would be a good candidate for LASIK and get the surgery done. They did all kinds of tests, but at the end of the day PRK was the only procedure that would work for her eyes to correct her vision. The down side is that the recovery takes quite a bit longer. So the last few days, she’s been trying to take it easy in dark rooms and sleeping with protective goggles on.

We are pretty sure yesterday (day 3) was supoosed to be the hardest part, so we are praying she is through it and on the other side now! Her vision will continue to improve over the coming weeks and we are so thankful!!

What a life-changing opportunity. It’s amazing the miraculous things God puts into the hearts and minds of people that literally changes the world. Simply incredible.

My prescription used to run in the -7.5, and was gonna do LASIK. After getting checked out I ended up doing SMILE, because I have dry eyes. It was less invasive, but a little more pricey. Two years later, i think it was the best decision I've ever made, and I would do it all over again. It makes my life so much easier. I'm glad yours went well, and I hope you recover quickly.

I did the PRK 8 years ago and it completely changed my life - for the better!! ❤ I had both eyes done. The recovery wasn't easy, especially the 1st week. After 1st week though it got much better and in 1 month my vision was 20/20. So gratefull I had the opportunity and wishing Amanda a full quick recovery!!

I had cataracts removed in both eyes ... what game changer -- after wearing glasses for 40+ years, I no longer need glasses for distance, just for reading!! Hope everything went OK and you heal fast.

If you have dry eyes, there‘s a video on Imi’s Bigan Yoga channel how to gently massage specific areas around the eyes to produce liquid(tears). It helps instantly but you have to be really gentle and pls wait until you have recovered fully first.
I had Lasik done and one side effect is dry eyes. Just a bit but when it‘s dry windy weather, I feel it and doing Imi‘s massage. Instant relief, I promise. Just follow her instructions very thoroughly. You‘ll feel it as soon as you do it the right way, your eyes will be moist and will look healthy! I can recommend all her videos, the effect is visible and you‘ll feel great too. (It‘s nothing exhausting at all). There are exercises for the eyes (to relax them) too. Have been helpful to me before going to sleep.
I had the same issues with glasses(constant headache) and lenses(not infections but terribly irritated dry eyes, often red after a few hours although I had dailies that are supposed to be well tolerated).
Lasik has brought great relief and my sight was perfect from minute one after procedure. Although you had a different procedure in the end, I hope your result will be the same!!

I wonder if it was serendipity or divinity that brought you to the Wang Vision institute of Nashville. If I am not mistaken, Dr. Wang, the founder of this institute escaped a life of hardship from the cultural revolution in China and found refuge in America. As you and your family have so selflessly given refuge to your adopted children, it is perhaps serendipitous that Dr. Wang is able to help ease your own struggles with your vision. Those who can do Lasik/smile or any eye surgery for correcting the eyesight are truly blessed....
Because i wear -14.75 & -13.50 number.... and it still is increasing which is one main reason doctors are not allowing to do anything in regards to correct my eyesight as of now

Wang Vision institute is really well known! He is a Christian and he’s a famous doctor who opened up clinics like the one you went to! ❤ They have a film about God’s testament of his journey of becoming an eye doctor too!

Glad I had mine done, even though because of having stigmatism I needed a Tori’s lenses! Because of the LASIK the lenses wouldn’t fit properly so I see blurry in that eye!
