Unfolding in real time, THE DESPERATE HOUR is a “riveting and pulse pounding” thriller from award-winning director Phillip Noyce. On the one hand, it's impressive how insanely hot Naomi Watts still is at over 50. On the other hand, the choice of her roles is peculiar.
She could, if she wanted to, be a much bigger star or star in much more interesting and better films.

For me the best part of the movie was when she wanted to stay on the phone with the disparate Dedra Wilkinson and Dedra gave her that speech to keep her spirits up and moving. That part is where I damn near lost it. I thought the movie was good but that part was the absolute best.

Just finished watching this. Naomi gives another powerful performance in this psychological thriller about a school shooting. The story is told entirely from Naomi's perspective as a mother of a son who is in lockdown at the school. All the dialogue, tension, and plot comes from Naomi and the calls on her phone. It's basically a one-woman performance (like in the movie, Cellular). Highly recommended.

This is one of the best movies I have seen in a looong time. I just wish it would have said what happened in the end (if the shooter was killed or taken into custody) even though it's NOT a "true story" I wish they would have ended it saying how.
