Magic Mouse 2 Vs Logitech MX Master 3

For the past few weeks I have been using Logitechs mx master 3 as my daily driver as I prefer it over the Magic Trackpad 2, when I was using the device to edit a video it reminded me of when I used the Magic Mouse 2, as such I decided to make a compression video in order to decide which is the better mouse for productivity oriented tasks. With both the Magic Mouse 2 being released all the way back in 2015 and the Logitech Mx Master 3 being released in 2019, they are both relatively ancient in the exponentially growing world of tech. However in spite of their age they are still among some of the best selling mice on the market for most all Mac users. So to determine which mouse is better for productivity oriented tasks, and ultimately which I recommend, ill break this video down into three main categories, quality, functionality, and of course, value.

I just bought my first Macbook and was not sure about what mouse I should buy, but I wish I found this video before i bought my magic mouse 2. I used it for 2 weeks but I did not find it comfortable at all so I ended up selling the mouse for $20.00 usd and buy the logitech MX master 3S and I'm very happy with the materials and the shape of the mouse. It is very ergonomic. I love it.

I bought the Magic Mouse because I had a Mac but it was the most unergonomic mouse ever. I sold it on eBay and got the Logitech mx master 3

I am not sure about the "cheap materials" with MX Master 3. I actually find the surface great, it's matte and uniform, so it reduces the annoying dust and dirt of so many gaming mice while giving you a really nice grip. It's not a flaweless mouse (an additional middle button right behind the wheel, that is a bit bigger would've been perfect) but material wise I don't really think it is behind. I mean in the video the Magic Mouse does look more dirtier, simply because of the material.

Super useful review! I do wish someone would compare the vertical + horizontal scrolling of conventional scroll wheels vs. the Magic Mouse, which I believe can move around more like the Trackpad (more axes)

Thanks for this video, I actually tried to use a Microsoft Surface Ergonomic mouse with my Mac - and it just doesn't work right. It glitches when clicking on things. Very few people probably try to use this combination - so I was looking at the Logitech MX3. Which I think is not as good as the Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Mouse; but it probably does not have software glitches. I am using an Apple Magic Mouse 2 for now and miss the ergonomic shape of the Microsoft mouse. I wish Apple would just make a real ergonomic mouse so I would not have to consider the tradeoffs of the Logictech. I am sure the Apple mouse will work perfectly when it comes to software compatibility; but as others have commented - it is just not very ergonomically shaped. And for long projects, this helps.

I own both - I use the Magic mouse almost exclusively. The MX is in a drawer.
You're supposed to use the MM by just guiding it mostly by your fingertips at the top - that's it. Trying to cup it in your palm like every other mouse will lead to discomfort quickly.
And I don't get the constant moaning on the port. They designed it to be exclusively used as a wireless mouse. Not a wired mouse where you can leave it plugged in. The charge lasts forever - it rarely ever needs charging so you hardly ever deal with the port anyway.

I bought both recently with my new M1 Mac mini, upgraded to Monterey. I like the MX except... several times I assigned button and they don't always work - sometimes they work, but not every time. (eg - click down on the scroll wheel to show desktop). Drives me crazy. The Magic Mouse, although not as customizable, every gesture works every time, and I find scrolling and moving between desktops much more intuitive. So the MX is going back.

Thanks, but how come you did not mention the most important feature of the Magic Mouse, the scrolling quality which can not be reproduced with Logitech the same way. Apple simply does not allow this integration to be made, and this is the only reason to keep the Magic Mouse.

I just got mx Master 3, but I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. I get my new 32-in LG monitor tomorrow and will be hooking it up then and I look forward to giving her a shot.

The MX Master is a very good and comfortable mouse to use. However, mine started to disintegrate after less than two years. The rubber coating became sticky and very gross to the touch. If they would make one with a non rubber coating I'd trade my new Magic Mouse for a new MX Master.

It might be exaggerated for me, because I have larger hands than most, but the Magic Mouse actively hurts my hands to use for longer than 30 minutes at a time, making everything else it has going for it useless. I hope that Apple will decide to release a new Magic Mouse generation a reasonable shape, although I have a feeling that they would rather sell a Magic Mouse "Pro" with an ergonomic shape and a much heftier price tag.
