Fresh Face and a Versatile Voice

The PRS Swamp Ash Special brings a unique look and sound to the PRS Bolt-On line up. Its swamp ash body is equipped with a versatile hum/“single”/hum pickup configuration. Two 58/15 LT pickups flank a PRS Narrowfield in the middle position, which adds a single-coil bite – without the hum. Paired with a volume, tone, 5-way blade switch, and dual mini-toggle coil-tap switches (for the first time on this model), the Swamp Ash Special has a total of twelve sound combinations. Roll back the tone control for added growl, turn it up for some shimmer, and have fun exploring this versatile tonal palette. The volume level between the humbucking and single-coil settings will remain even
through it all.

There's something so "Larry Carlton-esque" about Brian Ewald's playing. It's always the right notes at the right time and every enjoyable to listen to. I have 5 PRS guitars and am probably about done buying guitars in my life but dang I'd like another 5 so I can get another 5 and then another 5....

I have two 2010 swamp ash specials and a 2011 swamp ash studio as well as a studio hard tail. Super amazing and versatile guitars. Glad they brought this model back!

Ok- I'm really here just to hear Bryan play! Beautiful guitar, though. Probably my favorite PRS to date.

Love the spec on this one. I don't get GAS often these days but there are some great tones in that thing.

When I saw the SE model, I knew they’d do an update on this. I knew it would be a top notch guitar. I want this as my next guitar, but can’t go broke doing it 🤣 just bought an SE CE24. My second PRS and easily my favorite playing guitars

So cool.
Do you jut show up at the factory and do four or five of these and then return to your Clark Kent life? 😎
Love your playing.

God damnit, i was hoping for middle pickup only in the wiring. Why not have a switch or push/pull to bring the neck in when on the bridge?

I briefly had a PRS SE SAS last year, but this one looks and sounds much nicer. I can't get along well with the neck carves or scale length, though. But maybe I'll try again someday.

Wish they had gone for the swamp ash studio configuration with the narrow field in the neck along with middle narrow field and bridge humbucker

3:15, 3:47, etc. I suppose, it's really not a tap, but a split?
The single-coiled voicing of the middle pickup is stressed multiple times, while it's not used by itself in any default setting. Not much point in having a humbucker there without rewiring, besides aesthetics.

I dont think there are "too many" toggles 😂 😉

I'm surprised he said it has "too many toggles." You heard it here, folks.

I like this guitar, only if it came with 2 pickups instead of 3 I would buy it. Ash body with maple & Rosewood neck plus 22 frets. I’ll keep waiting, meanwhile I’ll keep playing my Teles.
