My mother was an employee of Pepsi during that time and ran the Pepsi challenge in a local grocery store. It's true that the majority of people chose Pepsi in the taste test. It was no contest. Pepsi dominated no matter what order they were given. Many people would declare they were coke fans and then pick Pepsi.

I preferred Pepsi when I was a kid, but I hated colas in general at that time. I was always a root beer kid. When I got older I came to love the milder taste and more acidic feel of Coke, and it actually eventually became my favorite flavor.

Nowadays, the only sodas I drink are Diet, and frankly it's no contest. Pepsi's sweeter flavor really doesn't work when the sweetness is aspartame. When you drink diet all the time, after a little while that aspartame twang goes away. Diet Pepsi uses so much that it hits you like it's day one all over again.

Pepsi is sweeter. Coke has a more distinct, original taste. Pepsi is also usually less expensive.

Let’s be honest neither taste good since they went all sugar free and in the UK we have to pay a sugar tax to purchase anything close to the original!
