Even 25 years later the animation of this movie is just incredible.

Nothing worse than a nightmare that doesn't seem like a nightmare at first.

As a kid, I don't think I realized how truly scary this was until the dream turns into a nightmare. But it is really dark and twisted before that, with how easy it was to lull her into a false sense of security.

I like to think Anastasia's family send her that dog as her guardian angel, seeing as it has saved her countless times.

If her amnesia wasn't blocking her, she probably would've realized this was a dream the moment she saw her brother jump in.

I think I understand. Correct me if I’m wrong but the boy is Alexei her brother and the three girls we saw are her sisters Olga Tatiana and Maria. Then we saw her father the tsar.

This scene from my childhood had me scared a little bit at 8 years old, brings me back memories looking back at this and I still have this movie on DVD.

This scene kind of reminds me of when Maleficent hypnotizes Aurora into pricking her finger on the spinning wheel in "Sleeping Beauty, " except it's darker and more frightening.

Of the best animated scenes, it produces a lot of fear and is too grim

1:58 You're laughing. Your haemophiliac little brother probably just suffered massive internal bleeding from that splash, and you're laughing.

Not sure if Rasputin either got way too cocky at the end and figured he's already won so he'd make sure she died terrified, or he changed it into a nightmare because Anya starts to hesitate when Dimitri calls out to her to ensure she'd fall in if she won't jump willingly.

All in all though, easily one of the more intense moments.

What would've happened if Dimitri didn't manage to get her in time...I don't even want to think of it...

0:26 1:00 - 1:10 Looking at joyful Alyosha (Alexei) in her dream makes me little sad (in reality he had hemophilia)

Love The Nightmare scene in both the film and the stage musical even though they're both different.

MOVIE: Rasputin and his minion cause some mischief for "Anya" to sleepwalk on the ship while traveling to Paris

MUSICAL: The Ghosts of the Romanovs haunt "Anya" in her hotel room while in Paris (the start of the IN A CROWD OF THOUSANDS scene).

Alexei has hemophilia so he really shouldn’t have jumped down.

I think this is one of the most OP superpowers one can have. Controlling someone by controlling their dreams and therefore their sleepwalking. It has so many uses! You could make the victim do whatever you want so long as the illusion holds.
