This Dual Boiler coffee machine is shocking! (in a good way)

This machine from Meraki is packed-filled with smart features that new home baristas need and experienced baristas will love!

When Meraki reached out to send me their dual boiler coffee machine to review, I was hesitant. I don't love appliance machines - especially ones with built-in grinders. But having the machine in my home and using it A LOT has made me rethink and slightly alter my opinion.

You see, the machine isn't just slapped together with some features that you didn't ask for. It's been thoughtfully designed and built with intention. And that intention is to make home barista's lives happy and satisfied. They have stuffed features in the machine like there's no tomorrow and what they are asking for it, isn't a lot of money either (compared to the other appliance machine manufacturers at least).

It's a risk backing anything on Kickstarter and a company that isn't established, but the risk feels very low for the reward you gain, so it feels justified but always make sure you've done your own research and don't just take my word for it.

There's still some time to back the Kickstarter at a ridiculously low price if you want to. I don't receive anything from this link nor do I have any affiliation with the company. I'm here merely to help those who are wondering what machine to buy.

As always, enjoy your brew!]

Great review! It’s hilarious how people rush to trash a new player just to defend of their precious breville machines. They must not like the innovation that a little competition can spark.

If it was 2k from an established brand it would be an easy buy. But the deal is too good to be true tbh. We've seen other espresso brands do this and fail to bring a product to market

they need to offer a grinderless version too, for those of us with a decent grinder
milk temperature sensor is a nice touch

It is only a prototype. My prototype has problems with the Steam wand after a few days 😂 Brevilles machines are also available in Black and it gives you Information if your coffee is too fast or to slow, too 😂 RFID only makes sense, if your local Barista supports this.

Looks great. It might be the right machine for many people. I personally do not want the espresso machine and grinder intergrated in one machine.

I change my coffee about three times over the course of the day, which is why only single dose grinders fit with me. I bought one of the first Niche Zeros long before the term single dosing became common. So no, this machine will never be suitable for me.

But if you like to run through one bag of beans at a time and if you like the taste of the grinder, this might be a fine machine for you.

All that being said: The functions of this machine make it quite interesting, too.

How is it a breville killer if it costs you almost 3k AUD atm?? It's more like a bank account killer for the average home coffee drinkers

Do you know when you might get Version 3 to test? Hopefully early October, then when will you get the Production Model to test? Hopefully, middle to late October? I'm a Kickerstarter Backer, so VERY excited to see your upcoming reviews. Thanks.

Great review, I love the concept. I'd buy one to test it out. My one displeasure with their campaign, $80 shipping to the US, seems a bit unreasonable.

how will one get service for this machine? the problem with these kickstarter projects is the long term support...

Hi, great review of the Meraki. I am an Aussie backer and we are at the stage of deciding colour and shipping method - the Meraki team are saying we should choose the sea shipping option (which will take 1-2 months or longer as it will be over the Xmas period ) as the air freight option will involve longer customs time. Do you know if your machine was shipped to you via air freight or sea shipping and do you know if it was delayed through customs? The air freight is considerably more expensive however I was hoping to receive it prior to Xmas so I am looking for the fastest, not cheapest option. I would really appreciate your input. Many thanks 😊

I would prefer all steel because a) I like it and b) that makes cleaning so much easier.

" a company that isn't established" this is the downfall of so many Kickstarted companies. Making a few prototypes is a lot easier than mass production which is also the costliest part. I've spent thousands backing a bunch of projects that either came through with terrible products due to the cost of bringing them to market or failed to bring anything to market to the cost of bringing a new product to market. If they make consistently great machines if they go into production, I would consider buying one after a production model review.

"When Meraki reached out to send me their dual boiler coffee machine to review"....and that's where the objectivity ends.

My barista express just stopped working. This looks like a great option, but the electronics make me hesitant. I feel like those are the first thing to break

I wish this review included full process from ground to extraction without music one. Like to hear the machine ..that rotary pump at least..

Newsflash: black does not fit in all decos. Stainless steel (brilliant or brushed) needs to be an option.

We need one without a grinder. I have a niche. Don’t need a crappy grinder cause all the grinders on machines will never come close to a stand alone grinder.
