I'm calling B.S. on this. I don't know what schools this guy went to, but every time we read this story in school we read the whole thing. And it didn't say that it was more important to not fly too low. He made that part up too.

I've always known the story the original way and that the moral was to have balance and moderation in all areas of your life. I think Seth is the one trying to manipulate us.
