My calender ends in January every year. Every single year. It's been that way for decades. It's incredible we're still here.

We were eating dinner on December 20, 2012 and I remember my dad saying “it’s December 21st in China right now, therefore tomorrow is not the end of the world.” I was nine then so the absolute relief I felt hearing that was phenomenal. Needless to say, don’t believe crap like this or if you choose to, don’t panic sell all your belongings.

I remember having to slowly explain to far more people than I should have, that the Mayan calendar "ended" because of their numbering system, among other reasons. The number of people that don't realize you can have a numbering system other than base 10 is really frustrating.

A coworker of mine in 2011 ended up in the psych-ward because they fully believed that the apocalypse was about to happen.
He did come back to work like 5 months later, clearly on a schedule of medication.

I was 6 years old when this happened. I genuinely remember being scared, not because I was afraid of dying, but because, if the world ended, we wouldn’t get Christmas that year.

I cannot even describe how sorry I feel for children who watched this in 2012 and were petrified by it because they believed it. I know the feeling. I fell for things like this twice as a kid back in 2017 and tbh, I still worry about it today.
