Informative video. I would suggest however, that the Mayans did not believe that the world was created on August 11, 3114 BC, but rather that they believe that day is the beginning of a new cosmic cycle. It seems to contradict their expansive view of time.

I remember when they released this video early and everyone was worried it was because they thought nasa knew the world WAS going to end so they released the video early so we all could see it

Since Dec. 21st is still 6 days away.... I'm assuming this video or its producers are being optimistic about our fate next week. Of course many of us never actually thought the Myan calendar foretold anything other than date of a civilization that disappeared long ago.

Im actually a archeology major at UCR and have studied many mayan artworks and wrote many essays about them. In fact most of Mayan artifacts are about success in wars, their leaders on thrones kinda lik egypt artwork or priests presented practicing maya religion like bloodletting. Its interpreted as a way to ensure leadership over their own people through military power and through a link to the divine. Please don't worry Makaveli the world will not end. :)
