here is what I think should happen Apple will continue to support the XR, but with any other phones older than that you would have to pay for 10 years of extended support and after that 10 years, you’ll have to do it again to kind of balance, the support for the XR and how much people buy new phones and so Apple can also make money

if my protest doesn’t work apple, should do the thing where, for the older phones that are no longer supported or are likely to get discontinued from Support soon instead of doing that, they should do the thing where you pay a certain amount of money for 10 to 40 years of extended supportand once that expires, you do it again

I don’t think it will get iOS 18. The 6S was just beast with the 7 years and the iPad Air 2 getting 8. It’s not impossible but everyone said the iPhone X would get iOS 18 and the 7 plus would get iOS 16 but neither did, I think it depends on how heavy the update is, if it’s true and AI is in the software update then I doubt it will

I’m staying on iOS 15 its can sometimes be a little slow or can sometimes get unresponsive I couldn’t imagine what the performance with iOS 17 or above would be

simple answer, no. it may, but i’m 90% sure it’s a sure no. if you look closely, they dropped the A10 chip when ios 16 released (with exception of iphone 6s and se), and the A11 chip when ios 17 released…

they’ll probably drop the A12 chip on ios 18, which the xs and xr run on

My op is that iOS 18 would be available in A13 chips! A12 will no longer be getting iOS 18. if A12 fir example is getting iOS 18, then Apple should also release iOS 17 on iPhone X! i know it doesn’t happen! Apple won’t do that, so that means XR, XS/MAX won’t be getting further iOS 18 updates. sadly but that’s it lol
