Please try that last sentence yourselves! It’s hard right?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Almost every single one of these questions can be truthfully answered with: "It depends entirely on what part of the country you are in."

If an American said to another American "I went to Europe", the most common response would be "Where in Europe?"

Regarding our dialect...we are a mutt of so many cultures that it's funny to see what survived from different settlers.

Since you're in Spain right now, here's a way to explain the saying of "Of course" instead of "Thank you". What do Spanish people say when you say "Thank you"? They say "de nada" meaning, "It's nothing". It's the same kind of thing.

In Avengers: Endgame, when Thor's Hammer flew to Captain America, the theater erupted with cheering. It was quite loud!

"school" can refer specifically to primary and secondary school, or it can simply refer to any institution that you go to to learn, whether as a child or an adult.

people say “of course” as like a way of saying “you’re welcome” but more so meaning like “oh of course i would! no need to thank me!”. It’s basically a replacement for you’re welcome but like w a little more good vibes behind it. Usually people use it with those they’re closer with or when they feel it genuinely was unnecessary to thank them, not that they’re unappreciative of your thanks, just that to them it was something that they didn’t even think of needing thanks for. Occasionally it’s some people’s default “you’re welcome” response but not normally.

*Nobody should flush a toilet they're sitting on.* If the past 14 months have taught us anything, it's that micro-droplets of water can carry nasty little things. Close the lid first!

"Wait, what?" = "I just realized what you said and now I need more information."

I was about to put my two weeks notice in at my job (out of common courtesy), but my bosses were being a-holes about it, so I grabbed my jacket and just walked out. Cuz yeah, they could've fired me at any time with no notice, so I owed them nothing. I got a lot of "Good for you, dude!" texts from my co-workers afterwards.

I actually say “of course” more often than any other response when someone says thank you. The way I use it (I’m from the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area if it makes any difference) is to express that I’m more than willing to do what I did for the other person, that it’s my pleasure to do so, or it’s just in my nature to do so and it didn’t really require me to go out of my way. I think it’s pretty similar to saying “anytime” or “my pleasure.”

Fall, gone, growing, green

More seriously Fall was used in Britain first (Harvest, autumn and fall were all used) and then moved to America. Fall comes from Fall of the leaf and Spring comes from Spring of the leaf

"Aspirin" isn't a brand here. Sidenote: We need a whole video hosted by editor Diane where regular Diane edits.

When I broke my arm I handled the doctor bills myself. I broke my arm, no one else did it. I could have sued, but I didn't. Much love from Tennessee!!!

I can attest from first hand that kids definitely get grounded and u probably won’t find a single american who hasn’t been!

Grounded can apply to different things. You can be grouded from going out, watching TV, using a cell phone, after school activities or weekends depending on the situation. Its a creative alternative to being hit with a switch :)

I've seen people get fired on the spot. I've seen people quit and just walk out. I've been fired on the spot once myself. It's normal protocol to give 2 weeks' notice if you're leaving a job. When the company has mass layoffs, sometimes you know generally that there will be layoffs, but not that you're on the list. It varies.
