Irish names might seem impossible to English speakers because the spelling doesn't follow English rules. When you know the irish language they're not that difficult. The same is true of names in other languages. For example the name Tchaikovsky makes more sense in the Cyrillic alphabet because there is a sound for " tch"

I know how her name is correctly pronounced because I have been hearing film critics say her name ever since ATONEMENT in 2007. The trick is to remember how to SPELL her name correctly. So I just made up how her name would sound if the Irish spelling were pronounced as an English word: Say Oh Ersy : SA O IR SE.🙂

Saoirse has a strong Dublin accent. I don't think she from Dublin but was raised in Cabra a working class suburb of Dublin. It is from the Irish Cabhrach. It is pronounced Ka Bra in English and Cowrock in Irish.
