Music indeed used to take me away from the Qur'an. It's true. Nowadays i listen to the Qur'an, podcasts and lectures. Alhamdulilah Allah Subhana Wataala guided me. None can guide but Him alone.

if you listen to music, at least don't call it halal, because making something halal that Allah and his messenger made haram, is kufr, disbelief. Just repent and correct yourself over and over again.

I used to listen to music before knowing it was haram, then all praise and thanks to Allah, I was informed and replaced the habit of listening to music with listening to the Quran.

At first, you are very stressed, then day by day, your relationship to music will decrease and your love for the Quran increases.
Instead of having a favourite singer, have a favourite Quran reciter. Doing this have made me memorise long Surahs of the Quran now.

May Allah guide you and help you to do the same my brothers/sisters.

Narrated Aisha:

That once Abu Bakr came to her on the day of `Id-ul-Fitr or `Id ul Adha while the Prophet (ﷺ) was with her and there were two girl singers with her, singing songs of the Ansar about the day of Buath. Abu Bakr said twice. "Musical instrument of Satan!" But the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Leave them Abu Bakr, for every nation has an `Id (i.e. festival) and this day is our `Id."

There are different opinions regarding music in Islam. What i hold, if the lyrics & the wordings are not against the teaching of Islam, musics dont invite people to adultery and drinking alcohols, did not contradicts the aqidah, musics are permissible.

Well, this is one of the big diference opinion, between permit/tolerate it or hard-prohibited.

So when discuss it, discuss with akhlaq and good way, even if we are in differences opinion about it.

I respect and appreciate Shaykh Uthman as Da'i, even if we have some different view about it.
