Imagine walking around Bromley and John Green just randomly shows up one day.

"After all—A community present tense includes its ancestors"

One of those meteoric throwaway lines that flash past.

"In the face of AFC Wimbledon, I am utterly and deliciously irrational, which is maybe the defining feature of love." Dang, why is this eating me up on a Tuesday?

Oh damn, didn't expect to see my town and local club on an episode of Vlogbrothers today.

Places where the cemeteries are listed as tourist attractions have a special place in my heart

"Long way to fly for that one" is just such a British way of saying it.

As a Bromley fan I have such severe cognitive whiplash from seeing the guy from crash course, the guy who I started a parasocial relationship with 12 years ago, standing where I have stood half frozen watching hove smash us 3-2 in extra time. It's like seeing batman in your local boots thumbing through the egg and cress sandwiches

The way John feels about AFC Wimbledon is the way I feel about thoughts from places videos.

Bromley’s name means “woodland clearing where broom grows”, a local yellow shrub. It was the heraldry of Charles VI of France, who had a disastrous reign after being forced to ascend the crown at age 11, after his father Charles V allegedly succumbed to tuberculosis.

Thanks for all the work you do in this circular beautiful world, and know that with AFC Wimbledon and with you, we’ve stood and will stand.

As someone who has major depression, this is such an incredible reminder that the deep darkness does break and joy does return. Thank you for this.

"I was there for...the pleasure of being with a few hundred people whose love is oriented in the same direction as mine" is so sweet <3

Having grown up nearby- I nearly spat out my drink when I saw the title of this video. For real though, Christmas Tree Farm is actually a sort of petting zoo where you can feed the farm animals and its actually very sweet would recommend

As a lifelong Bromley resident, this is a truly momentous moment. NOBODY outside of Bromley has ever mentioned Bromley in the history of Bromley. Even our biggest export is only “reluctantly” from Bromley. Brixton claims David Bowie bc he was born there, but in truth, it was the desire to escape the inane nothingness of outer suburbia that inspired the likes of Ziggy Stardust. Brixton has a massive mural for Bowie, Bromley has a lightning bolt in the pavement outside the pub he used to do his first gigs at, which gets regularly vandalised.

Bromley FC is now the only club in the English football league (Premier League to League Two) whose home ground is in a constituency still represented by a Tory MP. That just about sums up Bromley - a haven for well-to-do families who want to get their kids into the “good schools”, with about as much character as your dad watching Final Score. Also, the first branch of Pizza Express outside of Central London.

Btw if you think that stadium’s old school, I remember going when Bromley were in the Vanarama National League and it barely had a stand or a door for the bar, let alone a big screen 😂

Also, one more thing: “A Christmas tree farm” made me laugh so hard. Unfortunately, it’s not a breeding ground for ripe fur trees piled high with decoration all year round. Christmas Tree Farm is a mediocre petting zoo in Downe that at one point in my childhood had an E.Coli infestation that caused a kid to die of kidney failure 😂😂😂😂

One of the things I most enjoy about being a human is experiencing other people's unironic enthusiasm for the things that they enjoy. Thanks for sharing some joy and humanity with us John!

There are two things that make this video a great video: (1) the clutch Mitchell & Webb reference, (2) the many different ways John finds to say the word "Bromley" ranging from quiet contempt to genuine affection.

The deadpan vocal sync on "Bromley" at 0:41 was beautifully executed. Wes Anderson would be proud.

Orienting joy in the same direction is the whole reason I love live theater or even movie theaters. Feeling together is better than feeling alone.
