Moonbeam also has the added benefit for a good chance to force a druid out of wildshape or a doppleganger to its true form. I've used it many times in roleplay situations to reveal imposters or to cancel an enemy polymorphed as a Trex although this depends on RAW interpretation.

I will be playing a Stars Druid (with a small splash into Order Cleric, mostly for RP purposes) in my upcoming campaign, I CANNOT wait to see what kinds of shenanningans you come up with because I feel like you always find something mechanically interesting or fun to abuse damage!

Circle of Stars is my favorite druid! I've been waiting for this video, lol.

This is giving me the start of an idea: a Create Bonfire character. A creature takes the damage when the spell is cast in it's space, the first time a creature enters the area on a turn (anyone's turn), and when it ends the turn there. That's potentially three procs. It's also unique in that it does this as a cantrip, so you don't need to use spell slots... and I suppose you don't even need caster levels.

I know it'll be bad, since cantrip damage scaling is bad, and the action economy probably isn't there, but a dedicated Create Bonfire user would be kinda sweet.

The stars druid is straight up my most favourite subclass. It has a great spell list, it has useful features, fantastic thematic potential and above all else can dish out a fair bit of damage. Abjuration wizards are up there for me, but star druid is just too freaking fun

Moonbeam has been a Super super useful tool on my Watcher Paladin, it’s a range of 120 feet, and does damage when cast, and at the start of turns, if my paladin can’t get in range to attack anything, it can still do very respectable damage and force an enemy to move away from that space to avoid the damage

This gives me an idea for a character that capitalizes on the moving aspect of Moonbeam. Because the movement requires an entire action but doesn't count as casting a spell, you can quicken a leveled (non-concentration) spell.

Sorcerer doesn't have Moonbeam (unless Lunar Sorcerer UA), but another Charisma half-caster does: Ancients Paladin and Watchers Paladin. So a Sorcadin it is.

Ancients Paladin combo with Moonbeam with their Nature's Wrath Channel Divinity to restrain a target with no concentration, that also synergizes with Quicken Spell by requiring an action and not being a spell.

Definitely looking forward to the Star Druid build!

I know you've already done a grappler build video, but I'd be curious what you think of doing a Rune Knight fighter/Armorerer Artificer multiclass.

Enlarge/reduce + Rune knight = Huge character with advantage + armor of magical strength.

Just curious what you thought of that!

Oh hell yeah, moonbeam is such a cool spell. Looking forward to the video!

easy. cloud of daggers. better scaling. moonbeam is con save so most likely that dmg is halved. moonbeam's edge is you can move it around. that however doesn't answer the question of which spell is better for pushing a target into. if we're looking for mobile sustained dmg spell that works with forced movement, i'd look into flaming sphere.

Just played a game tonight 9th lvl moonbeam vs creatures trapped in a force cage(not the solid box) worked really well being able to move the beam around and barbecue everyone inside like a giant microwave; I prefer the beam over the dagger just for the versatility.

Will you be doing an update video where you rank your builds soon, or will you wait a while longer?

Why don’t you do a pure eldritch Knight build?

L20 eldritch knight, shield, absorb elements, shadow blade, Blink, fire shield (you can use improved war magic on the turns you cast blink, or fire shield)
7 ASI’s, max dex, new bugbear, I really feel this subclass is to underrated.

I like to give my more theatrical characters Moonlight. Or, as I know it, the Spotlight of Death.

I never understood the hype around moonbeam when flaming sphere is controllable as a bonus action. It may be less damage and more likely to be resisted, but the damage you’d do with adding your action should easily overcome that.

Throw an oath of the ancients as a catch 22 style build.... They get moon beam, PAM, Sent.

I’ve never even heard of Moonbeam before. Gotta be honest, I don’t have a guess for this one.

Edit: Oh, you said it at the end. Also, Stars Druid. Freakin’ sweet!
