Harvesting Corpse Flower Fruits

It's finally time! Brandon and our part-time hornbill Erik are harvesting the fruits of Stankosaurus, the Corpse Flower bloom we pollinated last September. 🐦

While many of these seeds will be conserved and propogated for our own collection, we will also be sharing seeds with other gardens and institutions. 🌱

I actually did an essay for one of my college classes about the corpse flower and how it was in danger of becoming extinct! I’m so happy to see efforts of repopulating the corpse plants here

What a fascinating plant, it really does just FEEL ancient.
And as an amateur entomologist it's especially interesting because of it's close relationship with the insects of its natural habitat.
