Principle of Scanning Electron Microscopy | SEM

Показать описание
A scanning electron microscope (SEM) is a type of electron microscope that produces images of a sample by scanning it with a focused beam of electrons. The electrons interact with atoms in the sample, producing various signals that contain information about the sample's surface topography and composition. The electron beam is generally scanned in a raster scan pattern, and the beam's position is combined with the detected signal to produce an image. SEM can achieve resolution better than 1 nanometer. Specimens can be observed in high vacuum, in low vacuum, in wet conditions (in environmental SEM), and at a wide range of cryogenic or elevated temperatures.

Nice video and explanation, just to remark, I think you said the secondary electrons are the *scattered* ones - they are not scattered, they are ejected from the K-shell by the interaction with the beam electrons (which explains their name secondary)

very cool video. When most of us think of electron microscopes, THIS is the type of microscope we are thinking about. Most well known electron microscope images are SEM images. When I think about the electron microscope, I think about Lennart Nilssen; he is the one who really made electron microscopy an art form, and brought it to a wider audience.

The way of presentation was good, but please mention the instrumentation part in next microscopy methods, for eg, parts of TEM and SEM. It'll provide more information on the topic.
Good work!

I love the way you explain. You make it easy for me. Have you made a video on turgor pressure?

What if the sample is highly positively charged, then will SEM work?
