Man even Materazzi vs. Chiellini isn’t an easy comparison. Materazzi literally did everything in the final. He gave France the penalty then equalized then sent Zizou off the field then scored a penalty. Crazy for someone who wouldn’t have played if it weren’t for Nesta’s groin injury.

Sorry but Camoranesi was highly industrious for Italy in the 2006 victory. He was vital and was tireless in his efforts. For me he contributed a lot to Italy’s success.

Totti as well especially with his theatrics against Australia in the 2nd round was vital in a Machiavellian way.

Much as Materazzi is infamously known to rile up his opposition, he was really rock solid for Italy and was covering the aerial threats for Cannavaro extremely well making their pairing a perfect combination of big man small man Center back which covered all the angles for Italy.

Looking at all the players in this list, Grosso was so incredibly significant to Italy winning in 2006. Won the penalty against Australia, scored the last minute go-ahead goal in the semi-final against Germany, and scored the game winning penalty. Add to that the fact he was part of the defence which only allowed 2 goals in the entire tournament (1 penalty and 1 own-goal).

I like your show, but your wrong on materazzi . He was the player of the game in the final . Scored a beautiful goal and scored a beautiful penalty and got zidane kicked out . He was a beast, and tough and very underrated . And was great the whole tournament.

Grosso vs Spinazzola would’ve been a tougher comparison. No disrespect to Emerson, he did well but the only reason he played was because Spinazzola got injured in the quarter finals.

Up until the injury, Spinazzola was by far the best player at Euro 2020. Great going forward, got a few assists, fantastic crosses & did brilliant defensive work too.

Totti was injured 2-3 months before WC 2006 he didn't dominate the games but he made most assists in the tournament so he still was very efficient.
