Tommy I hate to tell you but Polaris has been using locked front and rear differentials since 1989 when their products were $3300. Again....a failed attempt at justifying an outrageous price-tag.

There is only one reason why my rzr cost 25k. There is plenty of people of people willing to pay it. The cost of manufacturing utvs is by far cheaper than that of cars and trucks. The reason I went with a rzr is it less expensive to repair.

It’s not a locked rear differential. It’s a spool. You guys really need to educate yourself on these topics you’re trying to “teach” others on.

Spools have zero differential action. While locked differentials do. Detroit style can uncouple to allow for different rpm output and elockers can disengage. Spools will always force the same rpm. Huge difference.

Also, lockers and spools are substantial because they dynamically send torque to the wheel with the most traction. If one wheel is on ice or in the air, then the other wheel will get all the available torque from the axle until you send more torque than it can transmit. Traction control operates off the limits of the differential, which is usually open and that means torque flows through one wheel with less traction in difficult situations and the brakes artificially change traction levels to get the wheels with better traction more torque. They don’t simultaneously send torque to both wheels all the time.

Guys you need to get of the tubes and LEARN before you start making videos about SXS and their tech.. this was amateur hr.

I like how you guys expanded this test to offroad buggies... it's really cool! Not so sure with the answer of this one but you should not just do it with SxS, but normal ATVs, cars with 4WD/AWD, crossovers, and trucks. That would be pretty cool to see. Thumbs up for me!

Ive been telling tfl to do this test 4 years ago. It's better than Tommy's upgraded 50k jeep wrangler.

First of all, that rzr doesn't have a locked rear diff. It has no diff at all, it's running a spool as are most sxs. The only companies I know of who have an open lockable rear diff is polaris (general 1000 & certain rangers) and cf moto. Second, why did you even bother with the second test ?

When are you going to RACE it up cliffhanger and your other demo trails in 2-WHEEL to show how sadly underwhelming the performance of trucks/crossovers etc are by comparison?

Cool test! I'd love to see it compared to other manufacturers 4x4 systems sinelce they're all so different.

So what you're saying is a side-by-side is The Benchmark for the traction test?

This is for the UTV guys, does polaris still use the hillard clutched hubs and spooled front "diff" to achieve 4wd?

Oh cool now my little sister knows what 4wd is.

2 front and 1 rear is a pointless test as it's locked at the rear. Impressive stuff anyway

This has been a known Fact that Polaris has the best AWD system in the UTV industry, but next try out the Can-Am Maverick X3 X-RC (Rock Crawler) with their NEW Smart-Lok system. Can-Ams are known as the 3 wheeler of the 4 wheeled UTVs, but Can-Am says the new Smart-Lok front diff will get you out of situations. But RZRs are still better. And its pronounced "Razor" not "R·Z·R". I wish y'all would stick to Truck testing because you are so far behind with your knowledge of the UTV Industry. I'm giving your video a 👍 only because the RZR is the best at what it does in AWD.

Does an fx4 lariat fit on that ramp? Or is too short?

I like the looks of the Can Am better, but like the 32" tires on the Polaris.

We've already shown that the rear is spooled...

Let's see what happens when only 1 rear wheel is on the ground. LMAO

Spoiler alert, a can am would fail this test.
