For anyone without these gauges the magic number is 18. Normally steps rise about 7 inches or so however this could be different based on the overall height of the stairs, so you take your overall height and divide it by 18 inches and that will give you the number of steps in the staircase.heres where 18 comes in again if your step is 7 inches tall it will have a 11 inch wide step if its 7.5 inches tall it will have a 10.5 inch step so you move up the board 18 inches per each "triangle" until your runners are made.

Awesome tool. Do me a favor, build a couple saw horses and save your back. I wish I could work off the ground like you. 😉

You did that too smoothly for a hobbyist so in that case I say for your long term body health remember sawhorse - sawhorse - sawhorse !

How do we figure out the angle to cut for the part of the beam that attaches to the deck ?

Why are your treads the length of airport runways?

OK, I know about stringer guides. I was looking forward tutorial not a commercial. This kind of glazes over the process which needs to be done very carefully, including calculating the rise and run and not getting Inch and a halfed on the last riser

Looks like you did your rise first than your run. I do it the opposite way

I always cut all my stringers nail together so one cut marks the one below it saves a lot of time marking s*** out

Here's a tip: make a jig out of the 1st cut, and use it to mark all of your stringer.

Brass stair guages from the lumber yard for $5 work just as good. All these construction videos pushing over priced tools. Yeah they cool but $40 for a pair of dogs is rediculous!

You just forgot to take off the end plus the inch and a half.

Definitely not the proper rise/run on those steps. Those are a tripping hazard.

Bro is it me or does that look like an awkward ass stringer? That tread is not no 12” by 7” rise and I know it just has to be close to those dimensions but Jesus that’s not close at all

Must not have building codes there, people going to be tripping up those
